Coil Over Reccomendation

Can Anyone suggest any brands that are solid and proven for the F30 other then the KW which I'm familiar with. Liking to go a little bit cheaper on the price.

Not sure what other good reputable brands for a non EDC 335 are out there.

I'm really tired of my H&R springs and the bottoming out, they gotta go.

Thanks guys

It's the usual suspects if you're on a budget - KW V1/ST, Bilstein PSS, H&R, BC, Fortune Auto. The good stuff like Ohlins is quite a bit pricier.

Bilstein and KW seem to be most popular on here. I have a set of KW V1s in the garage that I'll get to at some point.

Thanks, I appreciate it a lot. The ST is decent huh? I found a set for $960 at mod bargains.

It's rebadged KW V1. Just using galvanized steel and not stainless like KW. Hence it's cheaper.

I have the Bilsteins and love them. I think they are equal to the KW V1 I had on my E90 and they are less expensive.

Having ridden in many different brands, KWs are overrated to me (V1 to V3) as I had V3s on my M3 and ended up going back to a Koni based coilover system. They ride similarly to $1k coilovers such as BC and Fortune Auto. If I wanted to spend the extra money, I'd get TC Klines. Ohlins ride very nicely and absorbs bumps very well at high speeds, but at lower/city speeds, it's a bit bouncy though not as bad as entry level coilovers. Bilsteins are very nice too, but the cheaper entry level H&Rs, not so much.

I don't get the cheaper on price bit when talking suspension. After All, a proportion of the cost is in the labour to fit the system, which costs exactly the same whether you fit a cheap nasty Chinese made generic *place your branding here* type system or a top of the range European set.

Personally, I would never include the word 'cheap' when shopping for suspension. It's not like Bilstein PSS10 is hugely expensive, but it is top drawer stuff.

Had the KW V2 on my car and a good buddy had the PSS10 on his F30. Both were awesome. The KW had a smoother ride, but my friend had his dialed a little stiffer. Both felt well balanced spring/damper wise and I would be happy to have either on my car. I've had the KW V1/ST on my previous car and they definitely rode a lot stiffer. Seriously, my KW V2's were smooth but still made the car feel planted and solid. If you can, I'd opt for the V2's.

How is the ride? Harsh bouncy? Which ones do you have?

I'm leaning towards Bilstein or ST.

I have the B14 for xDrive. Absolutely not harsh and zero bouncy feel. I had the H&R Sport springs before this. If you want harsh and bouncy, get those.

H&r sport is what I'm on now and it's driving me insane with the bottoming out.

Bilstein B14 is the best suspension I have ridden on so far. Comfortable for daily use, but stays extremely planted when I get on it. I am absolutely loving them on my car right now.

For ~$900, you can't ask for a better bang for your buck when it comes to suspension IMO.

I can't believe how awful the ride is. I was embarrassed to have people in the car with me.

That's spot on how I feel. My wife hates it, she says it makes her spine hurt. And I'm always clinching for the next road dip or small bump to bottom out and make the car feel like to hit a wall.

I going to switch to the Bilstein coil overs ASAP. It seems to be what the happy medium is on the forum and it's getting awesome feedback.

Thanks for all the help

Search for Bilstein PSS F30 or Bilstein b14 F30. Turner has them for under $1k.

KW are never harsh, as this is up to their philosophy- "even the race car's suspension should not be harsh to work properly".

What struts and shocks are you running? If stock, perhaps the Bilstein B8's would cure it.
