F30 340ix Whining Noise at Cold Start

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2016 340xi.

Recently, I've been noticing a slight whine (or a rubbing sound) when I accelerate and decelerate after a cold start. (keep in mind, I do keep rpms under 2.5 after a cold start)

The noise is not noticeable when A/C is off (not sure if the noise is still there), but with the A/C on, the noise is apparent.

However, after a couple of mins, the sound goes away.

I will be going to BMW for an oil change maintenance within this month and will bring this issue to their attention.

I was just wondering if any other 340 owners noticed this whine?

Any advice or input is appreciated it!

Thanks

I would also like to add, during idle there is no noise.
Only under light load with a cold engine, you can hear the noise.

Yeah mine started doing this at around 1k miles. It sounds pretty funny when I'm under a bridge and accelerate. Instead of the turbo whoosh I get a ducklike quak sound lol. Goes away within 2-3 mins.

Haha! Have you looked into this?
Do you know what it could be?

Would you be able to record the sound your car makes and I will do the same for mine!
Want to confirm whether or not we have the same sound/issue.

Not sure if my camera can pick up the sound but I will try.

I am hoping this sound is nothing dire.

thanks

Did you find out what caused this whining sound?

Funny I can hear my car whine at times even when it’s warm I keep thinking it’s the transmission. I was waiting for something to fail, but nothing yet.
