Tool kit for F30
Previous generations of BMW 3 Series included a small toolkit with the car, but the F30 has none. I considered buying one of these:
https://www.ecstuning.com/ES1905496/ but I'm looking to assemble my own kit. I do have plenty of tools in my garage. What do you recommend for including in an essential kit suitable for servicing a BMW on the road? So far I have: Car jack kit with wrench. Torque wrench and appropriate sized socket for my wheels.

IMO, the chances of being able to fix a BMW breakdown roadside with a limited toolset is extremely low.
To even get started, you need a laptop with OBD II cord and software. |

The only thing I carry that didn't come with the car is a set of jumper cables and I only carry them because I'm pretty sure it's a law here in Minnesota. My plan is if the assist button or cell phone don't work I'll go back to the basics and start walking.

Best tool kit for the BMW is a credit card with a high limit.

1. Loose splash shield 2. Flat tire (yes, I can do a temporary repair to get me to a service center for a more thorough fix) 3. Loose (insert any car part here) 4. Flat bed tow truck arrives, you can't start the car and put it into neutral. The likelihood that the tow truck driver will have the necessary tools to remove the splash shield and move the transmission switch to neutral are slim. For that you need a ratchet, 5mm allen key with extension, & an 8mm socket. I almost always have my laptop with me whenever I'm out with my BMW (I have that kind of job), so I can easily include my OBD cable, plus I have my Carly OBD wifi adapter as well, so that part's covered rather well.

You can get that same number of tools with a lifetime warranty for $20 at a lot of auto parts stores. Heck, I bought a 275 piece socket / wrench set at our local Canadian Tire for $200CAD ($150USD) on one of their sales (which is about 265 more tools than that kit has). |
