MPerformance Steering Wheel

Hey All,

I'm new to the forum. Great resource for info and pics.

Is it possible to order the matte carbon fiber piece for the MSport steering wheel with out having to get the whole alcantara wheel? Any one have pics of this?

I tried doing a few searches on the site for this question but could not find an answer.

really? the airbag does not have to be removed? I have seen other install guides where the airbag had to be removed and there are two more screws in there to remove.

you guys are only talking about the silver piece in the middle of the center spoke that extends around the two sides of the airbag/horn?

hmm, if that's the case i will give plastic trim tools a try.

Thanks

The shiny version might be M4 specific then? I noticed that steering wheels / inlay in M4 can be shiny carbon

The M Performance steering wheel in carbon / alcantara for F36 comes with clear / uncoated (or however you would put this) carbon, you see the carbon fiber weave and it's not shiny

Personally, I prefer the clear / uncoated version instead of the shiny version

One thing I'm still wondering about is how to keep the alcantara clean? If you know or you can ask and they know, would love to get feedback on it.

Exciting! You're gonna love it

So, the metal insert pops off, but if you orders the OEM Carbon piece it comes inset in the larger trim and its clips are fastened in which don't allow it to be separated without breaking the clips. So the only way to properly install the piece referenced by JWW (thanks for the part number, btw) is to remove the airbag. It's simple enough to do and only took me about twenty minutes.

It's the open pore that matches the m perf trim (dry, non-glossy)
