Cracking/distorted bass in L7 but no speaker malfunction

Hi all,
For some reason mid and low range sound in my 2008 e92 335i cracks crinkles at mid and low range bass. This is especially noticeable when I have the volume turned up, but seems to be happening all the time. I originally had a cheap "walmart" brand aux cord and figured it was the cheap aux not being able to output crystal clear sound, but when I upgraded to a nicer cord, it didn't help any. I did research and saw everything on here from water in the amp to blown speakers and subs, but after checking everything I can confirm it is none of the above. All of the speakers work fine and the crinkling sound comes out of ALL of the speakers, not just the subs under the seat. I even tried to isolate the crinkling sound to the front, back or sides, but it still continues in all the speakers. Again, all the electronics seem to be fine, just not sure why the speakers are cracking.

For the first time the other day, the bass cut out on me for about 15 minutes when I was playing music loud, and then came back on. I figured this was just a safety mechanism to prevent speakers from blowing under high output...but then again, maybe it could be a sign of something going wrong.

Please let me know if you have any ideas as it's really annoying having a $52k car and not being able to play music loud and clear. Thanks!

Does it do the same with a CD

Does it do the same with a CD .
Most common problem with L7 is the amp gets drowned
by water leaks.
Its not really a system you can slam very much .

Aux Input is known to be crap.

Aux Input is known to be crap.
Some people use a headphone Dac such as the Fifo to improve
this but the best way to get around it is to add something
like the Dension gateway 500 s bt or the equivalent mobridge unit. And go directly to usb with high bit rate files.
If you are using low bit rate source files nothing will help that.

Also the L7 system has limited output.

I have the same issue -- leaning towards bad amp. Let me know if you figure it out and I'll do the same.
