Air bubbles between the windshield and rain sensor...
will this cause issues with the function of the automatic wipers? ie... wipers will not adjust speed due to heavier rain.
Also, had a "glass" tech tell me that the sensor must be "taught" by BMW after replacing the windshield. |

A few tiny bubbles is normal but large ones or a lot of them are not. While you can recalibrate the rain sensor, it shouldn't be required. If they did a poor job installing the sensor and trapped a lot of air between it and the windshield I'd insist that they replace it.

The bubble was about the size of a nickel with a bunch of pin head size above it. The tech said they don't install them... which contradicts the place that did the original windshield installation which said they did. He also tried to claim that my wipers wouldn't go to high speed because of the sensor detecting heavy rain. I pretty much went into pissed off mode at that point.
But I did get a new windshield out of the deal and they cleaned up the squeezed out sealant that was on the pillar upholstery. |
