F30 335xi Muffler Delete? CEL With Exhaust flap?
So I just picked up my 2013 F30 335xi about 4 months ago. I'm still learning alot about the car so forgive me. But after some heavy consideration last week I took the plunge to get a resonator delete. I went to a shop that work on some of my other cars I had for my exhaust needs. Needless to say everything worked well but the car pretty much still sounds the same. Maybe a hair louder and a little more burble in the low end. Other then that it would be safe to say you wouldn't even know I had it done. Anyways, I am on the fence about getting a muffler delete. Watching some videos of other people that have it done it sounds quite good but at the same time I'm not sure if I want to make a luxury car more tuner if that makes sense. My main concern is the exhaust flap tho. I heard mix things about CEL and no CEL when being removed or a code being thrown. Enough rambling though. My question is for whoever has done the muffler delete:
Does a CEL or code get thrown when you do a muffler delete? If not how will I go about doing it so their will be no CEL or codes? Is the Exhaust flap an integral part of the exhuast/car? Any videos of a stock 335xi with resonator and muffler delete? Thanks for the Help! Any videos also or experience on this is greatly appreciated! |

AFAIK the flaps help to warm up the car faster during cold starts. I remember seeing a few videos on YouTube of the muffler delete |

I tried the muffler delete on my F30 328i and it was loud. At first I thought it sounded great, but after 5 minutes of driving around town, I got tired of it real fast. When back to the shop the next day and put on a Magnaflow Muffler. Now it has a nice growl especially at WOT.
When I did have the muffler delete, there was no code thrown up.

Does the plug to the flap have to be unplugged before cutting the muffler and inserting the Y? I heard the exhaust flap has to be open before it can be cut. Thats my big concern

I am assuming they have to unplug it because it would make it easier to cut off the pipes.
