Opinion time what to do
I recently bought my second 335i, this one came from an insurance auction and was a hail car, no big deal i've done hail cars before. The issue here is not finding parts its finding parts in the right color ( tasman Green metallic) i got a quote to have all the hail damage repaired PDR at 3800 but he would not guarantee the roof because being a convertible he said it was a bit tougher metal and they were going to have to use the glue pulling method instead of coming at it from underneath. Now my question is do i buy parts that are a different color and put them on it and paint it or have them PDR all of it or do the different colored parts and vinyl wrap it? Im open to all opinions and wont be bashing anyone.
2010 335i convertible Tasman green metallic if you know where to get tasman green metallic parts im all ears as i cant find them anywhere. |

My go-to place to look for salvage parts is car-part.com. It's a little tricky to search by paint code but if you Ctrl-F through the results for your paint code you can usually find what you need. According to this page, the paint code for Tasman Green is A81 but you can double check by running your VIN through the Bimmer.work VIN decoder.

you are correct on the paint code, some parts dont have the color on them so it can be hard to tell, i love how parts are everywhere for these cars in every other color but the one i need HAHAHA Im gonna go bald searching i feel like. OR end up buying a different color and having the parts or car painted

Ive even played with the idea of making it 2 tone like silver roof hood and trunk and tasman green the rest but i feel liek it may look better in my mind than in real life haha

I say you find all the parts and paint it. That's gonna be an impossible color to find. My car is two-toned. The roof/ top half is wrapped. Just to warn you, it's not a popular look. I am only aware of one other in the US that has also done this. Both of us did a matte black vinyl wrap on the roof.

wrap seems to be the way im leaning, how much was it to wrap your top half? think matte black and tasman green will look alright? i can see it being ok if windows were tinted dark and the roof/door silver molding was black as well

Tasman Green is one of the rarest colors, as you are finding. I have only ever seen one other than my own car. Greens of any kind have been sadly out of fashion for a long time. Everybody only wants shades of gray. Blech.
I would say replace the parts and have it painted.

ive had both ways quoted as far as pdr ( $3800) was the cheapest and conventional body shop repair ( $5000) i was just checking around to get peoples ideas and see if they had thought of something i hadnt. I agree with space gray lol I see parts in that color everywhere HAHA

OP I think Matte black might look strange with the green. Gloss black might be a better match but that's my opinion so it has no bearing on the reality of it. I'd say buy 2 cans of spray paint, paint something like cardboard both Gloss black and Matte and hold it up to the car as a test. Good luck with the project though!
