OEM CSL on E90 test fit!!!! Need help!!!

Hey guys, i got a set of OEM E46 CSL wheels that i want to put on my E90, ive heard from a few people that they may not fit and some told me it would so i went ahead and put them on my car anyways this weekend just to see how it would look, and i am so pretty happy with the way it looks, put my hands behind the wheel and it didnt rub. From what i found from K-lach, these wheels have a Front: 225/40/R19 ET 47. Rear: 255/35 R19 ET 27 compared to my stock Front: 225/45 R17 ET34. Rear: 255/40/17 ET 37

But my next question is, im obviously going to lower my ride (most likely going with coilovers) is that going to rub then?? Here are some pics. It'd be awesome if i could get some input. Thanks Guys!!!

Rear

Front

Thanks for your inputs guys

It's not that the wheels won't fit. It will fit but you are just going to incur some minor issues after lowering the car because of the offsets. The front offset is a little on the high side, all that will happen is your front wheel will sit in quite a bit in your front fender. Nothing that a hub centric spacer cannot fix to move your front wheel more center in your front wheel well (only if you feel it iss necessary). You also might find that you may no longer be able to make a u-turn at full tilt. Your biggest problem is that you will have rubbing issues in the rear (maybe not right because you are on the factory suspension), but it will happen after you lower it. Contributing factors are, your car being loaded down with passengers and depending on what tire size you go with in the future (you can use a tire size up to a 265/30 or 275/30 on your rear wheel later on down the line if you like) and the tire brand you go with in the future, it will happen. Some minor fender work is definitely in your future. So that's pretty much it in a nut shell.

I agree with ExclusiveAlloysE90. 12mm spacer in front is almost required so the front wheel is not so tucked in and that will give you et35. With the back wheel you won't have any issues, as long as it's not lowered, but if it is, you will need to roll fenders. By the way I love those OEM Competition CSL. They have nice concavity in the rear. Good luck.

So basically i will need to get some wheel spacers for the front and as for the lowering i will go with coilovers so i can just adjust the rear so it wont rub? because i would hate to have to sell these wheels and get another set of rep CSL.

Yes, fronts will require spacers. No need to sell it, don't slam the car too much, and just roll the fenders in the back.

I wouldn't recommend CSL reps to mix with OEM wheels. They have completely different finishes, and you can tell right away which ones are OEM or not. I was thinking the same once, but compared with my friends e46 M3 competition wheels and the OEM wheels seem like they have brighter finish. Just my two cents.

wow, sell the CSLs and get properly fitting reps. Who cares if its oem or not, with the amount of issues you have to go through (which you dont want to obviously, its a lease) it seems that would be a better choice. More hassle with wait, selling, but im sure there are always buyers for good set OEM CSLs.

All this about telling them apart, yes that is true, but honestly - 90% here are with CSL reps I bet, and who cares, if they are as light, and well made? I think starting to play with offsets, rolling fenders, etc, is a bit of a pain in the neck.

Lower the car first, bet that stock setup will look much better too, meanwhile you can sell the CSLs and shop for nice set of reps.

thats my €0.02

the spokes on the OEM CSL are thicker than reps also...2) no wordings engraved around the center hub...even with exclusiveCSL also different wordings.

so drop this idea of mix n match.

Since im getting coilovers, why dont i just adjust the height so the fenders dont rub or is there something im missing here? Wheel spacers is no biggie, since i can take them out later on, i just dont want to make any permanent mods since its a lease or can you reverse "rolling the fenders" later on?

Coil over height adjustment is not a cure for rubbing issues. No road in the US is perfectly flat where you can drive around with minimal suspension compression. Because of the unevenly paved roads we drive on, your suspension is going to compress very regularly causing car chassis to move up and down causing the rubbing issue. The offset you are using on the rear is an extremely aggressive offset. On my lowered sedan, I used a 19x9.5 ET30 with the Toyo T1-R tire (which is a very narrow tire) and I did not rub. You are using a wheel that is pushed 3mm closer towards the rear outer fender. That 3mm makes a huge difference, especially on a lowered car. You may or may not see it now with that 255/35 tire (even though the 35 series is quite a tall tire for the rear on a 19 inch, but the tires on the wheels now are the factory spec from BMW), but like I said in my other post, later on when you change your tires, and decide to go with a different size tire set up, and depending on what tire brand you go with, you are going to have a different sized sidewall from each tire manufacturer. And fender rolling is not reverse able.

See, like i told ya. Unless you are in college and have ton of spare time to dick around with this, why not just get something that works without additionally wasted cash (unless its like yuor passion). At least thats my approach.

where did you buy your oem zcp rims and how much you pay if i may ask? m3forum, e46fanatics? i have an e92 and asked if it would work and it would. just need to roll the fenders at the rear and add a 10mm spacer front.

im not sure if the sedan needs to same setup (most likely not) but just a heads up and for the coupes if you lower your car in the future ontop of the spacer and fender roll at the rear you also need a -2 rear camber adjustment.
