window making "screeching sound" after tint installation.

Anyone else ever have a window screech after having it tinted. I had this problem after I got my window tinted the first time took it back they redid it and its still screeching. I believe the film folded back near the bottom. Have to take it back Monday for them to do it a third time. What a pain in the ass! They are an authorized 3m retailer. After I get it fixed correctly I'm going to rip them apart on Yelp! As i roll the window down it immediately makes a screeching sound only on my driver door? frustrating since I paid $600 for good tint! They will redo it free of charge but its a pain having to go there 3 freaking times. thanks for letting me vent. any advice?

How long after the tint is this sound occurring? My windows had a "squeal" type of sound for about a week after the tint job. It was due to the lubricant solution they use to install the tint, which will unavoidably seep down into window track/mounting mechanism causing that noise.

The sound is occurring 2 days after they tinted it! Do you think it will disappear on its own or should I take it back to tint shop. I'm worried they damaged my window. All other 3 windows are fine! I can visually see some glue on the lower portion of the window. So damn frustrating on my brand new car. I hope it is the lubricant solution and not damage to my window.

Mine squeaks/screeches on a 435i install. Not awful, but not great either. Been that way since install over a year ago. Interested in solutions....

Try putting a coat of wax, not polish, on the inside of your window, this stopped the screeching on my standard windows.

My window tinters recommend leaving the windows up for at least 3-5 days after the tint is applied. Maybe that's got something to do with it, because that's what I did and I've never had any issues with noisy windows.

That's what my installers have always said, and I've had no issues as well.

I've always heard this is best practice as well and is what I plan to do if I get tint in the near future. It will make getting in and out of the parking garage for work fun when I have to scan my badge on entry and exit though... Perhaps that will be a work from home week.

As others noted, you shouldn't be using your windows so soon after tinting. Did the installers mention this? You can speed up the curing process by parking your car outside in the sun, but best practice is to wait a few days before rolling the windows down.

Didn't touch my windows for 5 days after getting them tinted, haven't had a single problem in over a year. Also, what kind of film are you getting to justify paying $650? I paid $225 and I thought that was on the high side for non-ceramic tint.

The installer only told me to wait 24 hours before rolling the window down? Should I give it a few days to dry? The screeching sound on my new car is driving me nuts!!My other 3 windows are perfect, why is this one giving me trouble? I'm very ocd about my cars especially my new one. Keylime 503 I got 3M crystalline 40% tint and its very expensive! It's the best tint 3m makes for heat reduction.

So my plan is to have the window re-tinted then not roll it down for a week. What do you think?

I would give it a few more days of drying before doing anything. When I had my E30 tinted with the 3M tint, they said to allow it to dry out for several days before opening/closing the windows.

Yeah but I think the tint is pulling up? I think its best to have it re-tinted and not roll the window down for awhile. I can see some glue residue on the bottom part of my window like the tint peeled off a bit. very slight

Does the fact that my window goes down a bit every time I open the door have anything to do with it? I didn't open my other 3 door and those windows don't screech/squeal.

There's no way to avoid the slight window adjustment on door open/close with the frameless doors.

Correct. Could this be the cause of OP's problem? But then again, the other windows don't have the same screeching sound. Like he was saying, maybe there's excess adhesive residue being the cause.

I think the excess adhesive residue is to blame because I see the glue "pooling" on the bottom of the window!

They typically dry that small portion in the shop to avoid any issue. I have the auto dipping Windows as well and never had any problem at all.

So i took my car back to tint shop and the tint was peeling off on the bottom causing the window to screech/squeal. He re-tinted it and I have my car parked outside in the direct sun instead of the garage. I also got out of the passenger door so I wouldn't open the door with new tint. I will not roll down window for a week and keep it out in the sun for 3 days to cure. Will update on issue! Thanks for all the responses. Much appreciated. Hopefully this will solve my problem! I wasn't charged anything extra by the way which is expected. Some shops charge you again to re-tint a window if you roll windows down too soon. Wish me luck! Nothing worse then a brand new car with a screeching window.

Haha, I can just imagine you crawling in and out through the passenger door, for a whole week no less! One reason I wasn't too keen about tinting our GC was because the window drops down slightly when the door is opened and closes up when the door is shut - I felt that would create a problem with the tint while it was curing. Hope everything works for you.
