About to go out of warranty/maintenance

Hi,

I'm rapidly approaching 50k and am looking to see if there are service interval documents about when certain things should be looked at or maintained other than the oil.

I'm trying to see the costs of such things over the next 2-3 years to see the benefit of getting extended maintenance. My local dealer quoted me $2,200 for 2 more years and 50k miles. He said it was BMW's extended service. So I kinda want to see what it would be fixed in the next 2 years/30k miles.

Thanks

M

The main thing is front and rear brakes. Front brakes have been lasting 40K-60K miles, rears about twice that. BMW's price for brakes is reprehensibly big, it can be done for much less. Nor does BMW's maintenance plan cover things like an automatic transmission fluid change (that should be done before 100K miles - say at 60K.)

I posted this on another thread. You may want to have your full-flow filter body (aka, oil filter housing) checked before your warranty expires. Out of warranty cost is around $800-$1K.

My 2014 435i (46K miles) just went in for service and service advisor alerted me to an oil leak before I saw any evidence. The leak came from the full-flow filter body (aka, oil filter housing) and fixed under warranty. Per my advisor, this is becoming more common now that they are starting to see high-mileage. They also noticed "cold-climate" vehicles develop this issue at a higher mileage than "hot-climate" vehicles.
