Dead battery... again???
Iv'e been working on my 2011 328i e92 and haven't been driving it frequently. So one day I had to move it in my driveway and it did not start. I ended up jumping it, moving it, and left it to charge over night. The next day my charger read "charged" so I unplugged it and left her there because I was busy. The next evening (right now) it will not start; I also had closed the trunk where the battery is. What happened?? Do I need get a new battery, or is something else wrong??? PLEASE HELP AND THANK YOU.

Also, I should add, that about a month ago I sat in my car one day with the engine off, just playing some music and a yellow battery icon pops up on the dash. I immediately stopped and took out the key. Could this have been a sign to the problem right now?

You need to load test the battery and see what its health looks like. But yeah cars now days have a fairly large draw even when off and ifteh car is not driven regularly it will never get fully charged.
Plus what battery you have matters as well, my 2011 335i has a H8 AGM with a pretty long reserve time and I never have any issues. Even when I had the ppk flash done we freaked because we accidentally left the lights on and it handled it no problem.

Look at the age of the battery. The stock battery only lasts between 5-7 years. If you only drive it once a week, that should not be an issue in my mind. Especially if you just charged it back up.
The battery could be on its last leg, if it's 5 years or older, or your alternator is not charging the battery. |

Or there is an IBS problem. I'd replace the battery and have the IBS & Alternator checked.

The battery in my 2011 car is also toward the end of its useful life. I've been nursing it with a battery tender maybe once a month but I know it's going to be replaced soon. Even with the battery tender, over time the battery loses its ability to hold a charge and wears out. I was kinda stalling on it because I didn't want to go to the dealer for battery registration. Turns out you can do battery registration with the Carly app and OBD dongle, which even if you pay for both of those things plus an aftermarket battery is still way cheaper than going to the dealer.

The next step would be the ECS tool or Foxwell version of it. I know foxwell is planning on enhancing the abilities of their product in order to enable it to code. Right now, you can't code with it, but I thought I read somewhere that was supposed happen this summer. The ECS version is $199.00, and the Foxwell version is $175.00 on Amazon. I am not sure what the difference is really other then the name plate, or so I have read. |

Knowing that my short trips are problematic for the condition of the battery, when I do replace it i will keep up the regular charging regimen right from the start. So long as you use an appropriate smart charger there is no downside except the time it takes to connect it once or twice a month. |

Well it looks like my battery is shot. I left it to charge overnight and tried to start it right after and it didn't. Car was acting weird too; the wipers were moving by themselves when I put the key in lol. I'm pretty sure the battery's been through at least 5 years now from the previous owner. Now its just a matter of some $$$ for a capable battery; oem of course.

Check the HUGE50 ($50.00 off) discount code from Advance Autoparts (order online, pick up in store or shipped). I got the H8 AGM battery from them and it is great and fit great. I registered it with the Carly app.
