2007 335i cylinder 5 misfire question

so today i did some spirited driving and got the check engine light to come on. it was really rough when i pressed on the gas like something wasnt right. When i read the codes it said it was cylinder 5 misfire. so i cleared it and everythings fine now. It only happens when its WOT for a good amount of time. my question is what could be causing this? My only other issue is a slightly rough idle. Any ideas on what the problem is? Thanks!

Could be injectors, coil pack, or spark plugs. You can switch the coil packs around to see if the misfire changes cylinders same with spark plug. If the same cylinder is still firing most likely injectors would have to replace minimum of 3 but might as well just do all 6.

I had the same issue on my 07 328i. The misfire was on cylinder 4. Was experiencing rough idle, loss of power, spuddering at idle. Changed the coil pack for that cylinder and all better.

This is funny as the same thing happened to me yesterday with exact same symptoms. I pulled over restarted the engine and everything was fine. I am betting on the injector being on its way out.

Had the same thing happen week before last. Under WOT car would beggin to shudder and stay like that until turning off and turning on again, with SES light. Code said cylinder 5 misfire. Replaced all the coils and took it the dealership to have a fuel system service done just to make sure that was okay. Smooth as butter now.

One of the most common problems, just switch one of the ignition coils either with another cylinder or with a new one and then see if it still misfires. If it does replace spark plug(s). Still does replace all spark plugs and ignition coils. Had this problem myself. Also gets rid of that rough idle
