Thoughts on 2011 328xi to 2015 335xi

Hi everyone! I currently have a 2011 328i xDrive that I bought as a CPO about three years ago. The CPO warranty is about to end, so I am in the market for a new car. I was planning on getting a new 2016 328i xDrive, but after driving one today I was not impressed with the 4 banger they're using now. The engine sounded a little tinny compared to my straight 6 and didn't come close to the power or sound of my sons Audi S3.

After the disappointment I learned that the dealership had a new 2015 335i xDrive that has all the options I'm looking for except for the sport seats. They're discounting it $7k and said there is a bit of wiggle room in the price yet. I noticed other left over 2015s are listed for about $10k off so I could shoot to get a little more off. I do not need the extra power, but the car felt better to me. What do you guys think about getting a new 335i? Is it weird that there is a 2015 leftover? Any other thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Huge pass! No sport seats? Total deal breaker. Plus, it's not that discounted. keep looking for a 335i M-sport with at least the HK sound.

It has the HK where I currently do not. I have the standard seats in my 328xi, but I wanted sport seats in a new car...it's not a deal breaker though. I have to admit the seats in my sons S3 beat even the 328i sport seats IMO. I'm not sure how I'd feel about hopping over to Audi though.

Well if you like sitting on bucket seats that offer all the support of a bench in a Ford F-150 ( shallow bolsters, no thigh extenders, etc), who I am to argue.

If I want to get something new for under $50k what would you recommend then?

How about a 2017 340 xdrive (assuming you need AWD) with 1 or two options.. You get M-sport standard, You get HK standard, you get a kick ass engine. You might be able to talk your dealer into throwing in the Nav for free or at a reduced cost. Just over $50K, plus you get the full warranty, maintenance, and a brand spanking new car.

I'm surprised the 2016 328 didn't impress you compared to your e90 328!!

I had a 2016 328 loaner the other day and I was impressed and thought that little turbo 4 cylinder was
Nice!! Even coming out of my 2011
335 xdrive-

In my opinion the 328i seemed to be built cheaper than my 2011. It didn't seem as solid and there wasn't the power/sound there that I wanted. I hopped in the 335i and I felt back at home. I thought the 328i and 335i were pretty much the same car other than engine, so I'm rather confused as to why it felt so different. Do you think BMW cheapened it up for 2016? What about an A4?

I would expect a much bigger discount on a car that is now 2 model years old.

No need for a '17 340; there must be some deals to get '16 340s sub $50K.

What do you guys think would be a good price on the 335xi if I could live with the seats?
