Break pad and rotor replacement

Hi guys

Fyi this is for 328i with standard calipers

Im going to tackle a pad and rotor change next week. I found plenty of tutes but nothing specifically for a f30.

Is there anything unique about f30 brakes

Is there anything about the rear rotor and electronc handbrake i should be aware of when replacing rear rotor.

Any diys specifically for the f30 or another model with the same set up i can refer to

Thanks

The BavAuto tutorials on youtube are fine.

The fronts are a cakewalk. As all the tutorials cover. I found I needed to use a breaker bar to break loose the caliper carrier bolts.

Supposedly when you replace the rear rotors you need to adjust the parking brake - not a procedure I've attempted.

Hy x328x,

Can you please tell me the manufacturer of your slotted/dimpled rotors.
Are they the standard 330 x 24 mm?

Rears done. Same procedure as the fronts. There was no need to fiddle with the shoe brake. New rotor went over it with ease.

unfortunately 330mm rotor options here are like unicorn tears. We can choose OEM blanks or well OEM blanks. There appear to be some trickling out now. Fortunately for performance blanks are fine and cheap.

Finding track pads has been an even bigger ordeal. For street, Hawk has had some great pads - for 330mm you wanna be running the Hawk 5.0. Best pad out there for our setups.

Really. I thought those rotors came standard with the m sport model.

Thanks. Definitely will try non oem pads next time around. Would also love to try a light weight rotor if they exist

The blanks do and are easy to get a hold of, but the majority of 328i's come with the base 312mm rotor and at least here in the states it seems like most M-Sports are ordered with the upgraded blue brakes with the 340mm calipers. Also I think the 330mm brake package was discarded and all m-sports come with the 340mm rotor/caliper starting in 2015 (I think at least).
