335i I love it but.
So I just bought my 335i 2007 on saturday and I LOVE IT!
But i'm expierancing some technical difficulties occasionaly, it's still under warranty thankfully so i'm not too worried but just out of curiosity have come here for information. My faults are: Wastegate rattle, seems pretty common. Half yellow engine light on WOT occasionally not all the time Creaking while turning steering wheel stationary only I took it to kwik fit and got the following codes: 2f6c - Previous owner did golf tee mod so not worried 30ff - Low boost pressure main problem 3100 - Turbo Fault I assume its a wastegate problem mainly so will that be a new actuator new rods or a new turbo altogether? Any input would be greatly appreciated |

You will get wastegate actuators only as that's what's causing the rattle but none of the turbo codes. I've been through all this with my 07 335i. The low boost could be a hose came off due to stretching which they now use braided hoses so they won't stretch. Also could be turbo cannister leaking.

I'll let mine know.
Going on almost 3 years of ownership now no issues.

Waste gate - the dealer will turn the waste gate screw 1/2 a turn or so to try and solve the problem. They will then update the ECU. If those two things don't solve the wastegate rattle, then they will replace the turbo's. Parts alone are 2k let alone the labor. Probably talking $4500 to $5000. To replace the turbos. Long term, I am not sure that will solve the wastegate rattle. I don't know if BMW has updated their turbos for the N54 or not. There is a guy that you can send your turbos to and he will refurbish them for under $1000.00, or you can do the work yourself for a lot less than that. The wastegate problem won't come back. http://turbolabofamerica.com/bmw-135...le-repair-fix/ |

I think that you should just replace the turbos for like 600 bucks. I have the same problem as you ( as well as many 335i owners) and I already bought used turbos on ebay from a 60k mile car. Its cheaper than getting the dealer to fix your turbos.

No!!! Don't touch it. He has warranty. Let the dealership address it. Creaking steering usually get new intermediate steering shafts, lower shafts, racks, or control arms if it is the ball joints. If it is the bushings, the control arms aren't covered under CPO.
AFTER, the dealer repairs, then flush the steering / replace the filter if they didn't do so during the repairs. Let them replace all of those expensive parts under warranty. In Bimmerland, these parts sometimes wear unusually quickly. Let BMW refresh that front end on their dime. The techs are familiar with the sounds and know what parts typically cause it. Flushing the fluid now may reduce or quiet the sound, but what about when it comes back after warranty????? I never decline a new part under warranty with these cars (even when I am reasonably sure it is not the issue), because there are so many parts that have a higher than usual failure rate. If they want to replace it, I allow them. BMW front suspension/steering as a whole wears quicker than most. Sometimes you don't recognize how much so, until the new parts are installed. I wonder how many miles OP has on his car? |
