how to paint 'stripes' on my 189 wheels?
no, not tiger stripes...but just want to black-out some of the centre part of each of the 5 spokes on the 189 wheel. Something like I roughly did on the image (using Paint!).
I can't afford to upgrade wheels, so just want to take off some of the 'heavy' appearance of these ones. What could I use to make the black stripes? Vinyl? Or plasti-dip? Or spray paint? Has anyone done this and could share the results? Thank you cheers |

The prep is going to be key in order to get this to remotely have a chance of looking good.
Clean it well. Then mask it off. Take time and care to get the masking just right. Then I would just use plasti dip spray. Since it is easily removed, you can see if you like the effect or not. And you can easily redo if you are not happy with the masking prep. It's also nice because you can choose if you want flat or use the glossifier.

Hi sackohammers
I'll take your advice on using plastidip. Maybe matte-charcoal gray, rather than black. How well do you think plastidip will hold up against washing and brake dust? |

It's not a permanent thing. In my view, that is a good thing. It will hold up for a good while. As long as you don't use a harsh brush on it and pull up an edge, it should be fine. If you do find you really like it, then you could consider the plasti dip a practice run and use paint once the plastidip starts to come off.

You could use a paint pen and skip the masking. Make sure the area you're coloring is scuffed. P800 should do. Nothing sticks to unskuffed substrate.

Either do vinyl or get an enamel paint spray it in a cup an carefully use a dropper with the wheels laying flat
