Just purchased the 2012 Bmw 328i
Hello everyone,
I brought the car home on Saturday and so far, I love it. The car feels really stable, and the stock suspension isn't close to as bad as I thought it would be. It's really fun and the steering actually has some feel to it. The steering doesn't feel nearly as good as it does in the E90 generation, but I'll take it. I was a little disappointed by the wind noise at speeds over 75 mph, though. I do not have plates yet, so I am unable to drive it for the next few days until the title comes in. One thing of concern: The padding on the back of the driver's seat is loose for some reason. I checked underneath the seat and there are two screws that aren't threaded in where they're supposed to be. Also, it isn't attached at the top of the padding to the back of the seat. Also, does anyone know the process of transferring the certified pre-owned warranty? I signed a document with the previous owner that was provided by the BMW website. I would really appreciate it if someone could let me know about the warranty transfer and solutions for the padding on the back of the driver's seat. BTW, the manual makes the car feel great!! Sorry for the long post. |

Congratulations and welcome.
Regarding with wind noise, I checked and the max speed limit in all states east of the Mississippi is 70mph with the exception of Maine which is 75mph. So, if you keep your new baby within the max speed limit you should not have any trouble with wind noise. |

Nice pickup, what packages does it have on it?
And as for the loose padding, I'd get that checked out since I drive the same car, and mine doesn't have it. Welcome to the family . |

GodZhu It has the premium package, the cold weather package, and the lighting package. It's kind of a base model, but when it comes to driving it, it feels wonderful.

When I took it on the test drive, I noticed the wind noise because I pushed it a little bit . I typically drive between 70-75mph on the freeway. |

OP congrats on the car.
The wind noise on earlier F30's sucks, something to do with the wing mirrors iirc. Transferring CPO is a pain, do you know the date the car entered into CPO? Here is a copy of the CPO protocol from BMW: http://d.pr/f/1bzUM There is a growing number of of N20 owners experiencing a timing chain failure around 50,000 - 60,000 miles. BMW revamped the parts in early 2015 but search the forum/internet on what to look out for. You can code your car to have features that didn't come standard but you'll need an OBDII Ethernet adapter and software, you can also find those details in the coding section. I highly recommend reading this thread in entirety to learn about your cars features: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=671526

Have a great time with your new cars. While I love mine with the amazing ZF 8AT, I'm a bit jealous of your 6MT. Enjoy! |

Good luck with your new purchase. I just picked up a 2013 328i m sport last Friday myself and am loving it. About transferring the cpo warranty though. I had a 335i m sport that was CPO'd that I was selling in order to buy the 328 and a perspective buyer asked me about the transfer process. I called my local BMW dealer and was told bmw no longer allows the transfer of cpo cars between new owners. Only cars that go back to dealers are re certified to cpo standards. This change happened 1 1/2 years ago.

Cpconst That's what I read. I believe there is a 200 dollar charge for the dealer to re-certify the vehicle. etinifni Thanks for the info, I'm definitely gonna transfer the warranty. It's worth it, especially considering the problem that you mentioned with the timing chain. sygazelle The six-speed manual definitely ups the fun factor . I'm a beginner with the manual transmission, considering that this is my first manual car. That's definitely true in Michigan ). The speed limit is 70, but if you obey the speed limit, everyone flies by you )

new 2013 328 owner here, congrats on the new purchase. like you i also am dissapointed with the wind noise. Mine seems to come from the B pillars. Compared to my wifes 2004 acura tl, her road and engine noise is similar but wind noise is like 0 so it was kind of a shame that almost 10 years later and it's pretty poor.
I have heard of others mentioning a specific door seal on the front edge that was applied to diesel models but was always in reference to engine and road noise, not wind noise. |

lkailburn Thank you, and congrats on your purchase too! The engine and the road noise is extremely quiet, however, at highways speeds the wind noise is surprisingly high. I'm not sure if they fixed the problem in the newer models.

I think you misunderstood me when I said private to private transfers only the car and not the warranty. After the owner that has a cpo car sells it to another private party the cpo warranty is null and void. You cannot go back to the dealer to have them re-certify the car.
