M Performance Package II - this I need

This is new for the 2017 models in Canada, or at least I've not seen it before. M Performance Package II - $2800
Includes an additional 35 HP and 30 LB-FT of torque totalling 355 HP and 360 LB-FT of torque.

M Power Kit
M Performance Exhaust

OK I'll admit it - I'm a power junkie. I need this on my next BMW.

Emmissions and warranty concerns are a big brainer my friend. Not everyone is into taking that risk on an expensive car

For me, I would do the BMW-offered M Performance pkg over the after-market just because of warranty. Too many problems w after-market, read about them on these forums. Just my 2c.

The MPPK seems to be a "prestige" buy for most people, considering there's a isn't a whole lot of bang for the buck. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

And what was the price of your Catback exhaust and MPPK together?

Garage List
If I was going to run the car at a track, drag & Road course, I would & did for the 135is & 335is, get the JB4.

For a quick DD I would get the MPPK/MPE again which I did for the 435.

Same. Dinan tune alone comes in under $2000 installed and offers similar or better numbers at the wheels plus a warranty.

Also, what exactly have you folks read about people having issues with stage 1 piggyback tunes? Certainly not bent rods, blown turbos, or IC problems. It's about as risky as drinking a second cup of shitty coffee in the morning. Not exactly cocaine. These engines are more than capable of handling the extra push. Stage 2 (with other bolt ons) and beyond is a different story. Are you sure you aren't thinking of people with multiple mods with aggressively tuned piggyback settings?

To each his own though.

Thats a pretty sweet deal. I was comparing the difference in builds from USA and Canada and noticed that in order to get MPP2 you must get MPP1 bringing the total cost to 4400. Canada includes Sport brakes, Variable steering and Adaptive suspension. While it remains standalone options in USA.

USA charges 1600 for MPK 1500 for MPE, 1700 for THP (includes the Brakes, steering and suspension) totaling 4800. So I guess Canada wins.

People haven't read anything about those issues with the B58 because it's a new engine. So we really don't know. In all likelihood a JB4 won't caiuse major issues with the B58, but that's not the whole story. It's certainly possible that a serious issue comes up impacting all B58s, and that people with piggybacks have trouble getting it covered under warranty. I've seen that happen in the audi scene. So that's the context for deciding MPPSK vs JB4 on a new engine like this. I can see reasonable arguments for either side depending on risk tolerance.

All moot until we actually get the MPPSK in the us!

I keep forgetting this is in regard to the new engine, too. So yeah, I would be cautious at first as well. Time will tell!

MPPK being a BMW product would be able/allowed to cleanly adjust whatever limiters and other settings are in place something a JB4 would not be able to do and needs to work around if at all.. caveat emptor

Seriously considering this if I can't go the m3/4 route next time. Should provide a very nice medium between the 335 (no ppk) and m3/4

MPPK came with my car - bought it used (CPO). The catback does little to nothing, but then again power isnt why I got it.

ORLY?

The B58 is rated at 320 hp to the crank. Even if this does add 35 whp, which I doubt, how do you get 355 whp given that the rated 320 hp is at the crank? lol
