Can not find an E90 328i with

Heated steering wheel and Xenon lights with or without adaptive?

I am going to throw in the towel and probably look for a 5 series or a Mercedes C350

Where are you looking? That sounds like a fairly common option combo (cold weather/xenon) for northern climates.

I found a ton of those when I was looking (in North East)

Try finding a RWD 6MT with those options though and you'll be SOL

Looking for one under 50K miles

On a side note, there's a black/black '07 328 MT, 60K miles with sport/adaptive/xenons at a local dealership in my town.

Yeah I noticed this! When I was looking for my car I was surprised how difficult it was to find a rwd manual. There'll usually be like 1 or 2, 2+ hours away.

So you are looking for an 8 year old car with less than 50,000 miles when the industry average miles driven per year is 12,000. You find a car with 60K and your not buying because?

Personal preference, I guess. She puts on 25,000 miles/year so I would rather get a car with lower mileage.

Because 50k is better than 60k?

At that mileage rate per year, 10K is not going to make a difference.

When I bought my 328 5 years ago....

I wanted a black on black, RWD, with sport package with a MANUAL transmission.

... I looked locally for about 2 months, said screw it and started looking on BMW's CPO site... there were exactly TWO of those cars in the country for sale at the time.

Long story short, I bought my car from a Florida BMW dealer sight unseen, and had it shipped the whole way here to PA.

First time seeing the car was them backing it off of the 18-wheeler.

.... No regrets.
Buy the car you want. Do not settle... it will come... eventually.

Did the same.......mine came from Chicago. Buying out of market and from a broker is a huge $$$$ savings. Got my ride almost $5k back on book.

I've done this too. There are downsides. There will undoubtedly be things you were not told about and you wish you would have at least seen before you bought the car. Prolly not huge deals, but spending an extra amount of money to ship on an unnecessarily low mileage 328i seems like a waste.

There are some incredible deals on 328s. I wouldn't overpay for one if you intend on outting serious mileage on one, bc then you eat 6k in depreciation in your first year.

These cars are work horses. Take advantage of that on one that has been well cared for, regardless of mileage. Make a spreadsheet that points out how financially hnsound it is to buy a car based purely on mileage, buy a steal and pile on mileage at the lowest $/mile you're going to find in the Bmw world and smile all the way.

I want to enjoy driving the car too. Buying a high mileage car won't give me the feel of buying a new, albeit used car

Finally have focused my search on an X-drive now.

Looking for a low mileage X-drive from the south though

I sacrificed everything to get a stick shift and I don't regret it. I wanted coupe, sport, xenon, RWD but could not find one anywhere in the country. Ended up with a 6MT E90 xDrive with none of those options, but it's a great DD.

Noticed some cars are being advertised as SULEV (super ultra low emission vehicle), what the heck is that and what does that mean?

Thanks

OP, your requirements are minimal. You can find hundreds of such cars if not thousands. Most of the dealers/sellers don't even know the heated steering wheel exists in E90/92.

After looking for a year for the perfect car I had in mind, I had to sacrifice on color and settle for an space gray SULEV e92.
My requirements were:
Coupe, sports seats, 328(no turbos for me), winter package, under 65k miles, Montego Blue/Tasman green exterior(absolutely no TiAg or white), Xdrive, coral red interior(or black), CIC, bluetooth, heated steering wheel, xenons(default on coupes). IN THAT ORDER.

Montego blue and Tasman green are very rare to come for sale with all the requirements I had.
So, after one year, I am in a space gray e92 with 61k miles with all the options I wanted but compromised in exterior color. I still have to retrofit PDC or back up camera, but apart from that I don't think I will change anything else. I don't mind SULEV vehicle as I don't plan on modding and keeping the car for more than 4 years.

My previous experience, I compromised on packages when I bought my last car when it met the exterior color and mileage criteria. Ocean blue metallic audi quattro B7 with 70k miles. It only had winter package(heated front and rear seats). I started retrofitting xenons, auto dim mirrors, power folding mirrors, memory seats. Price went up quickly and I spent almost all my weekends on those retrofits. Same with my E46, retrofitted xenons, LED tails, etc, etc..

This time I waited and paid more for a car with the packages I wanted. All I need to care about is maintenance now, not retrofits.
