Rear Glass Replacement
The body shop was supposed to install BMW rear glass in my car, but they installed XYG Glass and now my phone doesn't work. Is that because they put crappy glass in?

Did you have tint on the glass originally? If so, was it ceramic? Safelite says they'll match the original tint, but they might have added metallic tint.

Forgive my ignorance: but is XYG glass made by Safelite?
Yes I had tint, and yes I had ceramic with a separate strip across the dot matrix section. The body shop scratched that tint and tried to replace it, in the process destroyed by rear window and needed to replace it. I asked for BMW glass, they told me Safelite manufactures all the glass for BMW and you can't even get BMW glass. OK. I also told them I had ceramic tint. I get my car back, and the phone doesn't work so I look at the glass and it says "XYG" which is cheap glass from China according to Google. I called Safelite and they said "we do not manufacture glass for BMW, the only place to get BMW glass is from BMW. I'm sorry but they (the body shop) has been untruthful with you miss". I am curious if anyone else has had an issue with aftermarket glass interfering with your electronics because they took my car to my tint shop to have tint done. |

Thank you! I called and they told me they would replace with BMW glass.
They totally tried to lie to me and told it was BMW glass, like I don't know how to check that on my own. I may be a girl, but I'm not stupid. ;-) |
