Tuning & catless downpipe help

I have 2015 228i, SULEV

I am looking for the best catless downpipe and tuning for my car;
leaning towards JB4 stage 2 and ER catless.

What do you guys think? Do you guys have any suggestions on the catless downpipe and tuning box?

And where could I get them for the best price?

Hi,

Best tune is the JB4

Since you said SULEV, im assuming you have an N26.
You only available option is the Evolution Racewerks downpipe

Personally, I would avoid the catless downpipe - if you're in CA, you may have issues passing CARB requirements - or do they not "sniff" the exhaust in CA anymore?

Connect the computer through the obd port and it checks the emissions sensors and make sure none of them are triggered, usually the catalytic sensor which is in the downpipe.

If your vehicle is 6 yrs old or newer, you are exempt from a smog check in CA.

CA uses OBD testing, but also performs a visual. If you have a catted downpipe, but is not CARB approved, that is still considered illegal.

One other thing I just thought of...the N26 is a SULEV engine, and I wonder if using a catless DP would negate that classification (possible legal issues) or if there are other ramifications of removing the catalyst on the N26 versus the N20, which is not rated as SULEV? Wonder what the specific differences are between the 2 engines that make the N26 a SULEV?

Here's a post on bimmerfest that explains the two. (I hope it's not against the rules to link to a different forum)

Smog checks are both visual and mechanical. Most use the dyno (unless the vehicle is AWD)...and plug into the OBDII port. A catless dp will fail automatically on a car older than 6. They even test the gas caps for proper functionality. CA is a biatch in terms of smog checks but as posted, if the car is less than 6yrs old, you just pay an abatement fee in the registration...
