What's this thing under trunk lid behind rear seat? Pic enclosed.

Looks impressive but I know nothing about my E90 sound system except to say the car is a 2011 328ix with the hi-fi setup. I've found the amp on the left but up behind the rear seat there is this mystery component. What is it and what does it do?

Most likely a combox
bluetooth phone , a2dp, and usb is what it does.
in earlier years it is the location of the Mulf 2 or TCU.
