Question Anyone order Satellite Radio OEM Retrofit Yet?

Sirius is finally available for us. Anyone order the retrofit kit yet for their car?

My parts people have it on order, BMWCA may or may not have it.

I keep thinking about doing this. Do you know how expensive it is?

As I recall I ordered (and payed for) the satellite radio option .... . Shouldn't they be contacting me and just bringing the car in to activate ..?

Glenn - Is yours going to be in when you pick up your car?

I think you and I got the satellite radio pre-wire but nothing else.

I am hoping to get it, depends on BMWCA really, confidence is not high.

I have the American version for both my m6 and 335xi and it rocks. You should get a free year that the dealer should activate for you as part of PDI.

For a retrofit, the dealer physically installs the unit and needs to update the programming. And when you buy the retrofit kit, you do get a free year.

I would get the US programming though. Canadian program sucks.

All Canadian cars have the SA693 satellite pre-wire kit.

Just activate the service online. You just need a US address with the US website.

If that doesn't work, enjoy your Kanadian content.

I have 335 coming in with the Sirius option. Must be one of the first - the dealer didn't even know it was available, I had to tell them (thanks e90post).

That's what I did with my XM Direct for my '05 325, but if you do that you won't get the 1 year included subscription, right?

Nope, just ensure you have the sirius unit's ESN, you will get 9 months free + 3 months bonus.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Canadian units have some sort of locking mechanism to the Canadian content crap but it is worth a try.....
