ECS Tuning 2 piece rotors on the D

Going to have replace my brakes soon. Has anyone bought this setup for a brake upgrade? I have always hated the warping of these cappy rotors. Working at the dealer and seeing how easy they warp makes me dislike them. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...fK4aAp__8P8HAQ

I don't think it's the rotors fault for warping. I've been through 3 different brands of rotors and they all have warped. I've read previously the cause is the wheel bearings, and sometimes the caliper can get out of whack.

I have been through many different brands in the past (OEM BMW, Zimmerman, Bosch, Beck/Arnley, AC Delco, and Brembo) and all of them have warped except for one brand I'm currently running on my 335d, POWER STOP from rockauto - I'm not sure why, i figured i'm not spending huge $ on rotors and then having them warp, i'll spend as little as possible and basically throw them out every 10 months. So i tried the powerstop brand and they're still on the car 3 and 1/2 years now. I believe they were 65 bucks a rotor, they're now 87fronts and 77rears.

I have PBR Low dust ceramic pads as well.

No such thing as warp..no one installs brakes correctly even mechanics..there is a machine that checks for run out and I forget what it's called but that needs to be used to dial the brakes in upon installation.

For the most part, I agree with Owen81's response.

However, there is some misinformation/lack of understanding in that article. Specifically, the mumbo jumbo about rotors being cast at high temepratures therefore they can't warp. Internal stresses are developed during the casting of brake rotors. Annealing is a method to release those stresses. During that process distortion can occur. Recently, ferritic nitrocarburizing surface treatments have been used to reduce rotor corrosion and wear, but the process heats the part above the stress relief temperature. Brakes can also reach annealing temperature during vigoruous use, although not likely on street vehicles. Furthermore, wear of the rotor can release the stress as material is removed.

Rotors that are processed properly will be annealed then machined. Offshore producers often skip steps to keep costs to a bare minumum.

Stoptech recommends using a very aggressive pad for a few runs to clean the rotor surface and then go back to your prefered pads. The aggressive pads 'cut' the pad deposits.

Their rotors cost 350 each for my BBK so if they wanted to lie and sell more rotors they would.

That being said the only reason to go 2 piece is if you race the car and need the weight savings. Just get blanks for $30 bucks each. More surface area more friction area.

I haven't had any reviews submitted on the site for that exact kit but HERE is a link to the one for the rear that someone left for us.
