Two Oil Filters for Aluminium and Plastic Housings

Are there actually two filter types for two types of filter housings out there in various cars? I was trying to look up the oil filter for my car, RealOEM two diagrams, only the aluminium had a part number showing. This filter doesn't seem to have the bottom smaller o-ring which I seem to see everywhere else.

Plastic type filter housing/ heat exchanger was replaced under a recall. Maybe you need to start with that replacement part?

Riiiight... I forgot about that one. I do have the aluminium one so I guess I'm good then. The filter itself is the same part right?
