Haven't really noticed exactly that on my wife's 328xd, but don't think it's anything unusual. I think the fuel to the injectors turns off so fast the engine's crankshaft turns over a couple more times, compressing the air in one or more cylinders. Then it doesn't get entirely over and the engine backs up 1 rev. Some sort of leakdown going on. Might also be turbos spooling down, or air in the intake charge pipe leaking off.
