Test drove an M2 the other day...

Overall it's a very likeable car of course and I won't repeat all the raving praise it's got globally; rather i'll give you my comments as owner of another implementation of the N55 engine, with the ActiveHybrid 3.

Two striking points for me:
- I love the overrun burble of the M2
- I love the chassis feeling, how planted it feels.

I wasn't particularly impressed by the torque vs. the activehybrid they're (expectedly) quite similar (450Nm vs 465Nm torque 340hp vs 370hp), even found the AH3 was more torquey in low revs, probably thanks to the instant eDrive boost.

overall it hasn't derailed me from my project, but I would like your advice on how to best mimick this chassis feeling on the AH3.

Background:
I wouldn't go as far as changing my entire subframe for M3's, but so far,
- i've changed my lower control arms with M3's for increased camber,
- changed to MPSS tyres;

In the immediate plans (<1 month)
- Quaife diff
- M3 front carbon/alloy struts for more precise front
- M3 under chassis reinforcement place and braces (as advised in this thread http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1080995 as per Bee Pee's advice)
- JB4 ordered

And next in line is to upgrade to KW coilovers.

Question is, what do you think contributes most to the M2 feeling of being so well planted? Improved suspension? Or is it a lost cause because it's just shorter and lighter and has the M3 subframe?

Thanks!

If adding LSD and wanting to tighten feel - M3 or H&R ARB's F&R

Rear ARB is a subframe out job - you could install diff bushes and subframe bushes at the same time as LSD.

If wanting to make rear more planted - Megan Racing control arms - MRS- BM - 311/320/370/380.

All of the above may inevitably increase NVH coming thru to the passenger cell

Are you positively certain we can mount F80 M3 AR bars on an F30? I tend to prefer OEM M3 parts over aftermarkets - for no other reason than it's BMW branded and makes it consistent.

My shop thinks probably not the case, but would order if I'm sure this can be done. And therefore I would need your help to confirm if you have seen it done.
