Which Big brake kit?

I've upgraded the pads (EBC yellow stuff), and the brakes lines, and the fluid, and I still think the brakes are woeful for even a few hard laps on a track evening, so contemplating a big brake kit.

Interested to hear if anyone has fitted a good set that they'd recommend?

Curious as to whether there are any issues for daily driving? Not so bothered about dust, but squealing would annoy.

They're expensive and I don't track the car regularly, so was thinking to just do the fronts.

Big brake kits are indeed expensive but for a good reason. All components have to be engineered to work together and deliver better braking performance. Brakes is one element of my vehicles that I like to be over-engineered. Safety is priceless.

I suggest to explore either Brembo BBK or AP Racing BBK. Both kits 6 pistons (front), 4 pistons (rear). AP Racing kits come with several rotor options. I prefer J hook design.

I installed the M Performance kit which is made by Brembo and I absolutely love them. A bit of brake dust but otherwise they look and work great. The yellow/gold were $700 cheaper than the red or orange btw.

I have them already, and they're fine for road use mostly, but on track they don't last more than a few minutes unfortunately, even with better fluid and pads.

Both Brembo and AP Racing BBK offer 6 pistons (front) and 4 pistons (rear) vs 4 pistons (front) and 2 pistons (rear) in both standard, M Sport, and M Performance brakes. Plus calipers are completely re-engineered. That's what ultimately one pays for.

AP Racing is a UK based company. https://www.apracing.com/aboutus.aspx

In the US, AP Racing BBK products are distributed by Stillen. http://apradical.stillen.com

AP Racing won a patent case earlier this year. https://www.apracing.com/blog/post.aspx?Page=189

Great discussion on AP Racing caliper design: http://apradical.stillen.com/brake-t...brake-calipers

Have you spoken to Kevin Bird about the Alcon kits he fits?

Tengo,

Yes a couple of times but ££££ and the fact that pads swap is caliper off on Alcon AE [Advantage Extreme] compared to MPBBK /M sport brembos put me off TBH.

If EBC yellows aren't working for you, perhaps consider grabgbing yourself a bargain and buy OEM M4 sport pads F&R off ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-M3-M4-...8AAOSwTA9X3k9J

I have these upfront - very good.

Yeah I can imagine that's expensive everytime you do a pad change!

So do these pads fit all the F30 M Sport brake calipers?

+1. Same here as Bee Pee.

I have the M Sport brakes 370mm/345mm, run M3 brake pads, and Castrol SRF on the track.

Good point. With large calipers upgrading to 19" wheels is however the only option.

How much did the full swap cost? Installation and parts?

The calipers are the same are they not? I think it's just the carriers and disks that are different.
