2016 340i service reset unsuccessful

Took my car into the dealership for the first scheduled oil change (12 months, approx. 8500 miles). Upon performing the oil change, SA informed me that they could not reset the service indicator that set up another appointment to bring the car back in to investigate further and possibly fix the issue.

Here is a video of me unsuccessfully trying to reset it at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAOPOiDtaHI

Has anyone else experience this? If so, what was done to fix it?

A couple of months back, while slowing down to make a turn, the gauge cluster freaked out and restarted multiple times as posted in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrO9blpS8AE

While dropping off the car for the oil change, I let them know of the gauge cluster restarting and showed them the video. SA thinks the two could be related and also mentioned that they may have to change the gauge cluster, which I am not keen on. Others that have had the gauge cluster restarting issues have had a software update as far as I know.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

I can't remember if I read it on here or in the Bentley manual, but if the car thinks it's "too early" to perform a service then it doesn't allow you to reset the reminder. But I'd think 8,500 miles would be close enough for it to allow for a reset.

Well my car tossed up a service reminder for oil change and I am no where near 10,000mi.
So I reset it the same way you indicated in youtube and the procedure worked for me.. and I am slightly under 1000 mi

That is true, but in my case, if you watch the video, it says "reset possible". For those that are not due for reset, you will see it state something to the effect of reset not possible.

Have to admit I didn't watch the video earlier. That is really weird. Keep us updated on what they do to resolve it (assuming it gets resolved)

Will do, car goes in again on 10/07/16. Hopefully it will be a simple software update...we'll see.

Curious about this too. Just had my 340 in for the first oil change and the reset does not seem to persist vehicle restart.

Dealership had to update the software for the car per SIB 1241 15. This update included updates for pretty much every module and they were able to reset the the service indicator soon after the update.
