@F87_M2 Build Thread: LBB BMW M2
Most of you know me from Instagram (@F87_M2). I haven't been too active on the forums, but thanks to some encouragement from the guys over at Mode Carbon, I finally got around to starting a build thread. After a very long wait and many issues along the way, I finally took delivery of my BMW M2 a couple weeks ago. (Big thanks to BMW USA for helping out with the situation.)
The Build: 2016 BMW M2; LBB, Executive Package, 6mt. As soon as I started hearing rumors about this car, I knew I had to have it. An M-car reminiscent to the E46 M3 sounded too good to be true and I couldn't resist. Cars are getting bigger and heavier nowadays and while the M2 isn't necessarily light, the proportions are perfect and I couldn't be happier with it. I have put just about 600 miles on it thus far and have to say it is a great overall package. If I could think of one gripe it would be the turbo lag. While some may not consider this lag, I came from a FBO C63 AMG and I can definitely notice and feel the lag. I will say that this is not necessarily a bad thing and the torque is immense so I can't complain. The exhaust is not amazing but it's definitely not bad. I find myself utilizing the hidden exhaust mode quite often which makes things more exciting. My Remus exhaust was delivered yesterday which should make it even more exciting. Mods thus far: Eurotech MS/Xpel: A few days after I took delivery I dropped the car off at Eurotech Motorsports in Mahwah, NJ to get the paint protected. I am a big fan of Xpel. The biggest advantage is worry-free driving. You can get out of your car without worrying how many rock chips you've collected along the way. I had Eurotech do the full front bumper, full hood, front fenders, A-pillars, mirrors, headlights, rocker panels, partial rear 3/4 panel and full rear bumper. I am thrilled with the way it came out and have to give a huge shoutout to the team at Eurotech for getting it done in time. I highly recommend them for any service needs, clear film or mods if you are in the NJ, NY area. They will also be installing my Remus exhaust next week as well as my Mode Carbon rear spoiler. iND Style: Simply put, if you haven't already bought your cosmetic kit from them, you are missing out. Their Long Beach Blue paint match is literally perfect. I ended up getting their black grilles, color-matched reflectors (front and rear), color-matched and gloss black side grilles, black M2 trunk badge and color-matched keyhole cover. These parts are definitely a must if you have an M2. Mode Carbon: Can't say enough about these guys! I have been a Mode customer for a couple years now and have always loved their products. We will be collaborating on this build and I'm very excited for what's to come. I have their spoiler in my trunk waiting to be installed and will be doing their full kit when it's available. (Stay tuned!) Check out their M2 collection thread to see the progress of their kit! http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1306807 UPDATE 9/27/16 Mode Carbon Spoiler: Love the way this turned out. It looks amazing. Perfect fitment and perfect weave. The piece ships with double-sided tape pre-installed for an easy/quick install and this can definitely be a DIY job. (Just make sure you have a good adhesive remover to remove the adhesive from the OEM color-matched spoiler before the install.) I also really like the increase in aggressiveness of the rear end and this is a product that the rear was missing for sure. Remus Exhaust: I also just had my Remus Catback Exhaust installed. Before I get into the details, I wanted to mention how incredible the quality of this system is. Everything from the welds to the finish and of course the CF/Titanium tips. This system is definitely one of the better exhausts out there from a quality/performance perspective. A couple notable differences between OEM and the Remus Catback: The OEM system is one pipe that runs from the downpipe all the way to the muffler whereas the Remus system is two separate pipes allowing for a more free-flowing exhaust. One of my favorite parts of this exhaust is the fact that the muffler does not hang low and is virtually hidden behind the diffuser. This was one thing that caught my attention on many M3/M4 aftermarket exhaust systems as well as most aftermarket and stock M2 systems. Everything looks nice and clean dead on and from underneath. The tips themselves are a work of art and are a massive improvement over the stock tips. They are the perfect size and the mix of dry carbon and titanium looks perfect and suit the car very well. I am usually very picky with finishes and the small details on exhausts but I have to say that Remus blew me away with this system. THE SOUND! This is the perfect system for the enthusiast that appreciates a smooth exhaust note and doesn't want a ridiculously loud/raspy exhaust. However, that does not mean it's quiet. I am extremely happy with the note. I spend about 50% of my time driving in the city and wanted to mention that this system + hidden exhaust mode and lower speeds is intoxicating and I can't stop driving it in this mode. Quick question, on the A-Pillars where did you have them end the xpel? At the top of the windshield?
