Constant hiss coming from the speakers !!

I just bought a 2010 BMW 335xi Coupe (non iDrive).

Unfortunately, the car has a constant high pitched hum/whine/hiss coming from all the speakers.
It's not real loud but it's annoying.
It's high pitched. Some people probably can't even hear it.

The noise begins as soon as I insert the fob (before the engine is started).

The noise stops as soon as I remove the fob.

My head unit is the stock BMW Professional unit that came with the car.

The noise is audible even if the unit is turned off.

Any ideas what this could be?

The car is currently at the local BMW Stealership.

It might have even been cheaper.

Well, the local BMW Stealership replaced the head unit for ONLY $1238 !!

If I had the tools and knowledge and time to do it myself, I would.
I would also need to program/code the unit and I have absolutely no clue how to do that.

So yes, you can save tons of money if you can do it yourself but sometimes it's just not practical.

According to the SIB you posted, would you have to reflash all the modules to be that integration level (or higher) or just use the latest daten version and re-code the rad2 only?

The dealer said they did reprogramming. Or at least they charged me for it. Who knows. May be they did nothing and just charged me for it, I wouldn't know.

If its a recall it should still be covered

I got my passenger seat sensor replaced for free
under recall and I didn't buy my car new or
from a BMW dealer.
Also I am on the list for an airbag recall if that ever
happens.

I doubt it's a recall since it's not a safety issue.

Dealer charged $233 just for the coding. Is that something anyone can do or does it require specialized knowledge/tools ??

It can be done in <10 mins. 20 if youve never pulled it before.

In fact I would be having that dealership justify that building that is probably blatant fraud

It takes less that 20m to code a radio. Including hookup (i have been present in a dealership service bay watching mine done). Physical labor to install is as i said 10m for a dealer tech.

I hope you can recover some money

For warranty purposes consult the sib and see how many fru are billable. Your bill should be similar.
