New A/C compressor or rebuilt?
The A/C compressor went out in my 2012 e92. I have an extended warranty but they won't approve the full cost of a new compressor from my BMW dealer. They will only cover the cost of labor plus the difference of the amount of the compressor they want the dealer to use, which is a rebuilt compressor.
So it would cost me $1100 including labor for a factory new OE compressor, or I can take it to another shop, have the warranty company ship them a rebuilt compressor and it would cost me my $200 deductible. Thoughts? Any reason not to do the rebuilt compressor? |

I would try to do some research on what brand/rebuilder does the compressor. I wouldn't think it's a problem. Some things like starters are hard to find not rebuilt. All the guts are new, it's just the housing they save.
Make sure you have a warranty on the compressor. $900 is a lot of money for probably no return. |

Took it to another shop. They used a rebuilt Denso compressor and the warranty company covered the whole thing. Just had to pay my deductible of $200. The shop even got it done same day.
