Recommendations for tyres

I was wondering brand/model tyres you are all running?

The factory tyres need replacing soon (and I might get them fitted on a new set of wheels) so I would like to consider other options. Thank you!

I had MPSS as standard, they were excellent. Cup 2's are next level though.... if you're not going to modify or track your car MPSS will be fine.

Brownb_2: I have the original Michelin Pilot Super Sports at the moment.

Worth1t: Do the Pilot Cup 2's come in the same sizes?

I'd like to find more rear end grip. My car is totally stock and the rear end caught me out recently during the 1-2 change (DCT, Engine: Sport, Suspension: Comfort, Steering: Sport, all electronic nannies left on as per default). Usually the back end just wiggles during that change but the last time I drove it, it stepped out during the 1-2 change and I had to brake to settle the car.

i put mpss on all my cars immediately after taking delivery - i have a stock pile of oe pirelli pzero's at my office, no idea why car manufacturers keep insisting on fitting these horrible things

the m3 zcp lands with mpss now so no need to change them

i have a few cars that came with cup 2's, and i don't really like them on street. find the nvh too high. ok for an occasional weekend drive, but couldn't do that daily

i'm awaiting eagerly the new pilot 4s, and ill give them a go on one of my cars, most likely the m3 as a comfortable 30 series tyre is a great test for any manufacturer

Domino_z: Yeah the 4S seems to be another leap for Michelin. Don't think I can wait till 2017 to get tyres though.

Ywait: Even with electronic nannies left, on the M4 occasionally scares me. You have more power/torque so I can imagine the problem is even worse.

DWS = Dry / Wet / Snow (overseas version)

DW = Dry / Wet (what you should be looking for in Aus)

In addition the Conti ExtremContact DW isn't really up to M3 levels of performance.. a 335i would be OK on them but Contis Ultrahigh performance tyre would be their newly released ContiSportContact6, whereas the ExtremeContactDW sits below that.

BMW Sydney were/are selling the 20 inch Competition Pack wheels + tyres at a discounted price so I grabbed a set at the beginning of November.

Only driven the car a few days since so can't really comment on any improvement in grip but the 20's definitely ride harsher over bumps compared to the factory 19's.

i really like the look of those wheels but i cannot fathom a harsher ride then what i have on the 19's right now, maybe try the coding BMR can do now to make the comfort setting more comfortable, i am going to get it done soon. i just don't know how bmw stuffed the ride up so much with this car

also no matter what tyre you put on the car, cups or pilot sports, when the rubber goes hard they will get very playful

tirerack is definitely the way to go if you're just buying tyres! I'm looking to pick up my girl in a couple of weeks... very excited!
