Lightly modded M2

A friend of the shop swung by with his new M2 for some work. For round 1 we kept it simple. We lowered it on H&R sport springs, did the IND cosmetic kit including gloss black front grills, side gills, rear badge, and front reflectors. We popped on 15mm Gintani machined spacers all around for an aggressive fit with no rubbing. We installed a JB4 and a VRSF down pipe, which sounds amazing (video link included). An ACM flash tune will be coming up soon so stay posted for that.

Contact me through PM or email (Matt@autocouturemotoring.com) if you've got any questions or would like to order parts for yours!

AW just beautiful

For the side gills, are they the gloss black?

Any reason why the rear reflectors weren't done?

Hey guys that's my car I just want to give a shout out to Auto Couture. They have been completely amazing throughout the whole process and we're only at the beginning stage with this car. Tommy Alex and Matt are phenomenal people they try to steer you in the right direction even though you want other products they explain why it's a waste of money. And make you take a smarter approach to this vehicle concentrating on power before looks .I am extremely excited to see this journey through with my new friends at Auto Couture. The downpipe sounds amazing even with the stock exhaust I do not have the MPower version. And the springs give it a perfect stance. And if you're looking for that crazy animal look you definitely need to go 15 mm spacers. That transforms the car big-time. We got some little secrets coming into the shop in the next couple weeks stay tuned .

Why not get rims with bigger/smaller (I never remember which way the numbers go!) offsets rather than using spacers? I read somewhere that spacers are not great for performance cars - something about increased longer term stress on axle, spindles, ball joints, etc. - since performance cars are already potentially pushing the limits of these stresses in stock form.

That said, that's a nice car you have there.

Looks great. How close are you with those 15mm spacers though? I was thinking 10mm with the H&R springs and stock wheels, myself, but I'm interested by this and don't have my car yet--entering production in less than two weeks. What sort of machining on the spacers are you referring to here?

Uh, I'm not planning on being a "little girl" about anything, but I am planning on loading the suspension pretty good on the track, and I'd like to avoid rubbing in that context. Thanks for the input.

I wasn't referring to you in general I was just saying it's just an extra part you might have to change but I do drive hard and it has not run yet

Thanks for the kind words, this is an awesome car and we look forward to more progress and changing the thread title

While you're right that it does push the wheel off the hub and in theory can produce added strain farther off the axle, it also depends on the size of the spacer itself. Ball joints and axles take a toll over time more so from aggressively lowered cars than just a spacer setup. We haven't seen any issues with street cars running 15mm for long periods of time. When people run bigger spacers/adapters (over 20mm) that's when it really starts decreasing the lifespan of rolling/moving parts.

Granted having a wheel setup with the correct widths and offsets is optimal, while he is undecided on which wheel to choose down the road (and winter approaching), a couple hundred dollars in spacers to make the car sit the way it does is totally justifiable.

I mentioned 'machined' as in they machine the spacers in house from the same grade material that wheels are cut. These smaller batches cut in Southern California ensure a higher quality than metals that are imported from overseas for cost efficiency.
