Roof rack mounts

The M2 has roof rack mounts right?

Googling is not helping me at all with this question!

Correct. At least for the US models it does.

Right. Just like my e46. Great design.

With this mount design does the actual mount still touch the paint in spots?

I was hoping to find a bike rack that didn't touch at all.

I don't have an M2 but on my E46 (which looks similar) the rack does not touch the paint at all. You flip up the plastic covers and the roof rack rails bolt into the opening.

I have an M235i and had the exact same requirement. Dealer said, it would not touch the paint but he's seen plenty of people scratching the paint pretty bad while racking and un-racking mountain bikes.

I have a mountain bike and did not end up getting the rack but if it's a light road bike, I think the probability of damaging the bike is not quite so high.

You could get a hitch instead.

So are you talking about scratching paint on the car or the bike? I have a road bike (mtn bike may happen in the future but not as likely). With a road bike I would just get a fork mount. I don't see how I would be damaging bike or car as long as the roof rack doesn't rest on the paint.

Scratches on the car. My bike getting scratched wouldn't bother me too much. The road bike should be lower risk I guess since it's usually lighter than a full suspension.
