Orange cluster for G30

Looks like BMW is moving away from signature orange instrument cluster which sucks. I hope I'm wrong... start watching at 1:20

Is this any better for ya?

The decision to put more white in most of the modes was due to the very popular coding change to keep the daytime white at night.

With all the things you can configure in iDrive. You would think color scheme of the dash would be one of them, without coding. Clearly you can change the scheme of the ambient lighting at least.

That isn't coding in the video I posted. Different Drive modes have their own themes like the Fxx Digital dash but now include a little customization. Fxx Black Panel were the ones often coded to always display day scheme.

Tbh at some point bmw should really get rid of the kidney grills on the front of the car. It's just as anachronistic as the orange instrument lighting and fun to drive cars.

Btw if you jump to the 7:50ish mark you will see it still has the beautiful orange we know and love

You can't really judge it as this point. My F02 sometimes shows the white gauges with the parking/headlights on depending on how much is getting into the interior. I think it has 2 ambient light sensors, one for the outside and another for the interior.

Interestingly the Luxembourg configurator posted elsewhere shows the G30 digital dash as an extra cost option however when you spec up a car the interior view appears to shows a digital dash when not specced. Must be 2 types ?

I'm pretty sure the gauges will still switch to amber at night. Our 2016 F10 gauges are white with the headlights on until the ambient light outside drops below a certain threshold...then they switch over to amber. I believe the engine also has to be on for the change to amber to occur. Also I think just sitting with the accessory position on at night leaves the gauges white.
