DAB CIC for E9x kit

bought the full kit from the latvian dude on ebay (can link interested parties in) for £740, looking to recoup this.

So its an E9x CIC unit with faceplate.
CIC screen with shroud but no plastic face (screen is open).
Controller
GPS antenna
CID Cable

which ought to be enough for a swap into any CCC equipped car.

I am Happy to split this lot up

CIC and GPS£490
Screen and CID £175
Controller £Spoken for if I split

all prices plus delivery.

HAving undergone this conversion on my non CCC E91 i can advise if anyone is interested and wants to scope it out. its not that tricky, but you'll need a weekend, unless you're particularly handy and its a day job.

Will add pictures to this post tomorrow evening.

What would be required to make this work in a E91?

I have a Professional CIC at present, obviously not DAB.

The DAB aerial for E91 is in the rear glass, is there a workaround for this that you know of?

I believe the CIC is straight swap, but you'll need to code it for DAB. You'll also need a new FSC code for future map updates.

Shame you have a E91, as I have a DAB diversity antenna for sale.

The E91 seems to be a right pain for DAB retrofit!

A friend of mine does lots of coding / retrofits, so that side of it isn't a major issue.

It's just the aerial side of things it seems, not sure what else is needed in E91 other than the new window glass, I presume it does still need a diversity antenna?

Sorry not sure on the full details on the E91 as I've only done a DAB retrofit on my E90.

i thought i'd read that there is an aftermarket DAB aerial you can drop under the dash.

To be honest, im in two minds as it is whether or not to drop this into my car and sell on the non DAB one thats in it now.

Need the DAB ready screen, (all screen bought from BMW now are DAB ready) the diversity antenna (i know on E82's its located above the back window under the headlining), the DAB connector on the back of the CIC unit and loom to connect the CIC to the diversity antenna.

Then its just a matter of coding.

You can use an aftermarket aerial and hide it anywhere, when i did the retrofit I already had DAB from CCC so luckily eveything was in place. if you use aftermaket it will be a hour tops including coding... i would do it

when doing a NBT DAB retrofit, you have no choice but use an aftermarket aerial.

Any links to an aftermarket aerial that would work with a E91?

I don't want some strip stick on a window!

I've seen aerials hidden behind the rear bumper before?

i would say the stuck to the window ones are the best... i stuck one on my golf on that dark but by the rear veiw mirror and hid the black bit in the headlining, could even tell it was there!

you really want it visable otherwise the signal will be poor.. the bumper options are BMW OEM and will cost a bomb

So much hype with new champions in the market passing on brilliant information.
FYI, Saloon and coupe uses FM aerial strips for dab signal reception.
For some weird reason, bmw decided that it was not possible for e91 and e93. So their glasses are not dab friendly and uses different glass for dab element or different dab antenna.

Would like to know why you have to choose aftermarket dab antenna with NBT?

Feel free to enlighten us.

They are all passive antennas and have poor reception.
Search for active amplied dab antenna which has positive and negative wires for amplifier to enhance the reception.
Decent ones are minimum of £20-30 ish.

I can't work out your tone, but I have never been one for internet forum sarcasm... Never claimed to be a 'champion,' was just speaking from personal experience.

If you read my comment properly, firstly I was replying to a user that was asking about retrofitting DAB to an E91 hence the DAB friendly glass comment, and secondly, I stated E82 which requires DAB friendly rear glass as I have just performed the retrofit on my personal car which required new rear glass (went to order a rear glass from BMW, I was confused as to why the part number had changed before finding out that the glass supplied now is all DAB friendly) and the necessary cables and coding.

not doubting what you're saying, just wondering what ties the DAB screen to the DAB unit? I'd guessed that the screens were all interchangable, so if they're not, I need to adjust the package I'm offering.

thanks.

considering that screen=rear window glass in car, this glass come with or without dab antenna when car manufactured, depending on options
but when you order replacement rear glass, it is comes with all options

have put my car up for sale, so will not be fitting this now.

since the price of the aftermarket amplified aerial seems to be 20 quid on ebay, happy to adjust the price by that cost.
