insurance in Sydney

hey folks

just seeing if any reputable volume insurers are out there that can insure our cars....the guy at AAMI said he couldn't.....??

would rather put it through a volume insurer than the smaller boutique guy who will to and fro for 7 months for the worlds smallest claim....

Any suggestions, experiences ??

I got mine through RAC. Most competitive as well. SGIO was the worst.

Worth getting a quote through BMW insurance, which last time I looked was Allianz. I always get a quote with my cars, sometimes its outrageous, but sometimes it is actually competitive. Depends on your age where you live etc. It has the advantage that they will insure the car, and there is no argument about the model

NRMA has been good for me. When I have had claims on other BMW's it has been no problem. The price I am paying really means little, it is down to age, risk, where you live, discounts etc. For me it is very well priced, but will be different for everyone

OZX5 - I tried RACV, Shannons and a couple of others and BMW came up trumps. Their rates are competitive.

Garage List
NRMA insurance are the only ones that could insurer me costed a bit though. Allianz did not insure me due to my age and the car being a high performance vehicle. Mate NRMA and Allianz are my top picks, have a few mates that work in the insurance industry and they have said they're the easiest to deal with and always honor their claims.

If you go with Allianz, make sure you get an online quote and wait for them to call you. Their online discounts far outweigh what you get if you ring up or even if you try and claim a multi policy discount.

My insurance is up for renewal in November as well, currently with BMW (Alphera) insurance, its over $2k the coming year, want to shop around for cheaper alternatives.
I tried Allianz online but they wont do it, because of high performance vehicle, wonder will they do it over the phone?
Tried SGIO (NRMA equivalent in WA) but cost around $2k too.
Wonder anyone thought on RAC WA or Shannon?
In Perth, some low cost insurer won't deal with authorized BMW repairer as those repairers are expensive, and I don't want my F80 to have dodgy repairs if happens.
Thanks

Very strange. I went Allianz online and I'm under 35. That was 2 months ago. I guess it's possible they've changed their requirements.
