OLED rear lights spotted in one of the launch pic's/wallpapers?
Most of the launch pic's/wallpapers and shots on the BMW website feature cars with the standard LED rear lights however, the car with reg MBB4102, whilst it doesn't have it's lights switched on, does looks as though it has OLED's!

Compare the design of the standard LED big solid "dual bars" as shown in this and all the other shots:
http://g30.bimmerpost.com/goodiesfor...20x1200-02.jpg ...to the "dual bars" + indicators being made up of distinctive/individual OLED's in this shot: http://g30.bimmerpost.com/goodiesfor...20x1200-03.jpg Or it could just be that this picture has been taken in a set of light conditions that allow you to see through the lenses and pick out all the individual LED's that surround/are behind the solid bars? - They certainly look very different though.

got it.
perhaps another reason to wait until these are available. Cost option? or just added in next model year or for certain models? If it's anything like OLED televisions , I assume these are more expensive to make than LED? I sense there is still more info to come out as regards this car. I'm keeping an eye on BMW UK in Park Lane London as I my guess is that this might be one of the first places in the UK to get one. (there's already a gap in the showroom where a car can go, wonder if it's for the new 5? - I hope!) |

I think its the editing highlighting the "cubes" between the lightbars
Look at the reverse light. The light bar is the darker piece touching the reverse light in the bottom picture. It looks darker due to the editing and not being on. The "cubes" between the light bars are highlighted due to the editing making the light appear different So I would say its the same light

+ Unless OLED's are going to be offered as an option very close to launch, then it's very unlikely BMW would show them in these pic's (even if not switched on). ++ I actually hope that this is the case as I'd expect the OLED design to be a bit more "dramatic" - Hopefully we'll see them as option (along with laser headlights?) appearing at M5 launch time rather than having to wait for the LCI.

Pretty sure the OLED won't be released before on the next M5.
