Question BlueTooth: need HELP !!!!!!!!!

Just picked up my 2008 M3. Dealership forgot to order BlueTooth(BMW Assist) for the car and now they tell me it can't be installed. Take the car or order a new one ( 3 more months).I have the tech pkg in the car. Does anyone know if there is a retro kit for E92 or if there is anyway Bluetooth can be installed thru my navigation screen? Thanks

Parrot Bluetooth retrofit. No original BMW option as of my knowledge. So you went without the premium package?

Sounds like you did need premium pack.
I am starting to hear alot of issues about the dealer not placing the order right. Some really dipsh!t dealers out there.

the dealers have little clue, one told me sunroof is standard on all M3s and one told me CA was a stand alone option.

If you get leather $950 and bluetooth $750 that's $1700 right there so the rest of the premium pack (including $500 trim upgrade) only costs you $200 more.

yeah my dealer told me the moonroof was standard and I had to tell them that was not the case. If BT is that important to you then re-order get what you want dude.

Yes, there is a TSB for full retrofit of Bluetooth to either the OEM HU or to the iDrive Navigation: http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/attachments/B841405_E9x.pdf

Parts needed are at the last page of that document. TCU kit is also sold at www.bimmernav.com. Check pricing thru Internet BMW parts departments for the lowest prices possible -if price matters to you- and just take this .pdf to a better dealer for installation and programming. A dealer that doesn't even read their own TSBs cannot be trusted to do this installation right and in a reasonable amount of time, IMO; they are going to just experiment with your car and charge you for it.

Great info--I thought there must be a way to do this.

BMW has a Bluetooth-only retrofit solution also, the ULF, that doesn't require any of the extra parts -nor the extra cost- of the Assist but it doesn't offer it in the USA.

I don't know what is the problem with BMWNA and, in lesser extent the USA dealers, concerning Bluetooth retrofits in cars not so equipped.

I do understand that BMWNA wants to push the Assist system factory installed, being by itself or being part of the Premium package. But considering that not all the cars at the dealer lot have Assist (specially the 3 Series and the X3) but all USA BMW have the Telephone preparation standard, keeping a ready available OEM Bluetooth retrofit solution in the rest of the world but in the USA as a "secret" is simply absurd.

They did the same for the E46 and now for the E9x. They should be promoting this as an after-sales OEM accessory as well as OEM wheels and OEM leather cleaner/conditioner.

the build-it feature really is not working correctly, as soon as you order Leather + trim or leather + bluetooth, it should ask if you want the premium package for an extra $200 or extra $450.

It actually allows you to order leather + bluetooth + trim all separate and even tho it's several hundred more than the package.
