Battery replacement
Hi
Apparently I need to replace my car's battery. How to choose correct one? BMW said my car needs 90AMP. Is that sufficient? |

Take the cover off of the existing battery and look for yourself. Make sure whatever you purchase is at least as powerful as the original if not higher. Do yourself a favor and buy an OEM. I bought the best battery Autozone had to offer for my car and after coding it myself, I still get slow cranks every so often.

This is my second battery in this car and no matter what it still has slow cranks. What else controls the charging system? If I cut the car off and turn it back on it fires right up.

im getting some weird stuff going on:
cranks are ok, changed plugs just recently I get Increased Battery usage code, with icon of car being lifted -- dashboard. Alarm and Wipers are on and battery drains almost immediately. Then I had to jump the car. Then it was fine for few days. Then after a long drive, I park the car, come back to it in an hour, this time ABS lamp is on and its not cranking, though it seems it has full power. 15 minutes later - tries to crank.... 15 minutes after that, cranks and starts. Just funny, pain in the ass type of stuff. Replacement battery I am looking at is Exidy https://www.getbmwparts.com/parts/20...chtext=battery 90AMp one |

Yeah sounds like a dodgy battery for sure.

Tried to remove the battery and conserve the power overnight by removing negative terminal. Alarm went off.
WTF? I can't leave my key in the ignition while I am taking battery's negative terminal off, right? So heard OEM and Autozone so far. I know Duracell is ~190 and Sears' DieHard is ~140. Anybody? I need to buy it tomorrow. |

I just got 7 years out of the one in my 09 335i. My 09 118i is still running the original. I did have to replace the one in my wife's 328i last winter but I believe that is because the car is so low mileage (not driven enough to maintain the battery but it still lasted just over 5 years).

Didn't replace it yet!
All this weird stuff is happening on OEM battery. PEP boys carries Bosch. Looks like its 190 installed and coded. Brand anybody? Does it matter? |

I replaced mine not too long ago with an Everstart MAxx 70a.h. My car was acting funny and had some weird codes until I coded my car for my new battery. Don't listen to everyone on here that says you don't need to code/program the car for a new battery, I recommend you do it asap after changing the battery.

Swapped it today. Pain in the but for room and weight of the damn thing.
BUT works. No codes. Bosch S5 OEM $150. Will register in couple of days. Thanks all |
