Given that a stage 1 piggyback gets you more power, why would someone pick you as the tuner? These are not very impressive number for a ECU Tune. Also please post Timing, AFR and Boost.

We aimed to provide a solid line of different staged tuning options for the N20, and this is our conservative stage 1 tune. We are able to tune for stage 2 and up for additional power, which the JB4 cannot achieve with out vehicle specific tuning. -Tuning is specific to the exact modifications on the vehicle, and tailored for bolt-on's, methanol, intercooler upgrades, etc. -Instead of tricking the sensor inputs on the factory DME, we manipulate the code of the DME directly, using more precise methods. -Keeping factory appearance / service visits to the dealer undetected. Thank you, |

Great to hear that you offer different tunes. So can you please put down the numbers for stage 2 with out bolt ons and one with full bolt ons?
Also what can you say would be a aggressive tune and max number of TRQ the N20 Engine can handle safely? |

Its not about peak hp/torq but the areas under the curve. A piggy back tune will not compare to proper flash tune. Flash tunes are safer, power delivery smoother hands down. The only disadvantages of a flash is if the ecu can be seen as tampered with your warranty will be void

Area under the curve looks the same regardless of the Piggy back or ECU tune. Yes ECU controls more parameters and is safer and CAN be smoother but I strongly believe that with this much control over the ecu as they claim.... they should be pumping out numbers in the 300 range and not be in the same ball park as a piggy back. But hey to each their own. And it's not just this company and I am not trying to bash or put BPC down, I think it's great they offer another solution to the customers but in general the ECU tuning for the 4 cylinders is not what anyone was expecting, compared to many other platforms/ makes that are 4 cylinders.

~300whp (340 crank hp) is making dinan stage4 with its big turbo/exhaust upgrades. Can you give us your secret recipe how to do it with stock turbo/exhaust? or maybe you think that if you have "this much control" over ecu you can enlarge turbocharger compressor wheel or add some cubic inches to displacement?

This was my car pictured in the video that was done. I specifically relayed to BPC that I wasn't after a 'hot tune' or one that would hit a certain number. I track my cars semi-regularly at VIR and didn't want to worry about timing/boost being pulled, limp mode, etc because of ambient temps and driving conditions. While not a scientific measurement, the car feels as I imagined a 'performance edition' 328i would from the factory, if there was such a thing. No hiccups, no lulls in the powerband, etc.

Just an FYI enemigo the TD04 Turbo has plenty of air to crack 300WHP. ER has 310WHP on stock turbo but with intake, inlet, exhaust, and Intercooler and JB4 as the tune.

n20 intake gives little to zero gains (sometimes makes loose power), and talking about 310whp you probably forgot to say it was mix with e85?
so why dinan is using another turbo for these power levels (I assume 310whp is 350+ crank hp?). another question is it safe for the turbo or is it safe for the engine itself ? or it will be another story about blown n20 because user was brainless and pushed well beyond 1.5 bar of boost. If you want 300+ whp you should buy N55 not n20, you will never know which corner will be the last for your engine else. |

I'm with the OP...my tune is 'mild'...248/250hp and 324tq (100 degree testing weather and heat soak)...I didn't want something that would test the limits of the mechanicals..just something to give it an extra 'bite' ....
