The 'aero bits' are looking like a break cooling system. Cold air is transported to the breaks to keep them cooler...but it is quite far away from the breaks, so I may be wrong...
It does not look like the flaps of the M2 or other various sportier BMW's... |

It seems that it will be the first X3 with a high quality level!

To me it looks like these new aero parts are used to direct air away from front tires in order to get less road noise. Nice that they have integrated those more into design than just have black flaps in front of tires.

Good damn! Do BMW have incandescent bulb as a fetish!? C`mon german Toyota.. i mean BMW - you can´t be seroius if you are offering the new X3 with incandescent bulb like this car has anno 2017/2018.

This seems like production lights (not as the round 1990s preproduction versions) to mee, but hope you´re right about that.

I'm afraid the base X3, just like the current generation, is likely to be shipping with halogens and LEDs as an option.
