Completely uneducated in tires and wheels.. will these fit?

Hey guys,

I have a set of winter tires from my e92 m3 and was wondering if they would fit on my m2. One thing I never really got around to learning was offsets and tires and rims and etc... so any help would be greatly appreciated. These are Vredestein Wintrac Extremes.

Those sizes are just a little narrower/shorter than the original M2 tires, but they will fit just fine. I see no problems here.

Thank you! Sounds like I'll run 19's this winter since I still have these perfectly good wheels.

Careful here...your first post talked about the tire sizes. If you put these on your M2 wheels then you'll be fine as Keith indicated.

Your second post made reference to spare wheels. If these are stock E90 M3 wheels then you could have an issue in the back as those had an offset of 23 compared to your existing offset of 40. That means the outer edge of the tire will push towards the fender by about 12mm or (40-23-10/2). If these wheels are not factory M3 wheels then you really need to know the offset. Easiest thing to do is just try them out.

Keith,

Any issues with the 18's off of my e92 M3?

Unfortunately, those will not clear on the new M2. The tires would also be too short. Sorry about that.

So I'm in a bit of a dilemma with my winter set up and am looking for suggestions.

I purchased the rim and tire package without knowing I could negotiate. It's $3400 for 5 years and only covers stock rims and tires (MSP's)
In my garage I have 3 winter vredstein tires but for 19" rims. I would need to purchase 1 more to complete the set but they fit the stock M2 rims.
Do I...

A: Keep my tire and rim insurance ( daily drive into nyc) and slap the winter tires on the 19's? I spent $3400 on the insurance and would need to buy one more vredstein tire for $280.

B: Get a refund for the insurance, sell my 19" winter tires and buy a set of 18" tire and rims from tire rack. In the end I'll get back $1200 but lose insurance on my stock rims.

Can you expand on this a bit? What makes it not clear? Seems really close to the winter sizes that BMW offers?

The tire dimensions are not the problem. The wheels are they issue, they will not clear the brakes on the M2.
If new you picked up a different set of wheels that clear the brakes, you could reuse the tires.

Got it, had not seen his other link - so those are probably 8" or 8.5" wheels in his existing set. Thanks!
