Diff failure

Would just like to say it was worth extending the warranty, getting a whirring noise when accelerating. M technician diagnosed as a diff failure. It's getting replaced next week. Tech said it would have cost me around 4K in total.

Peter - what Mileage are you on now?

Warranty will be a definate for me when it comes time to extend - I did for the E53 X5 and it has paid dividends.

Hello my car has 44k on it. They took the car in and a couple of days later allwas repaired or so I thought. A week later they called me asking for the car back so they can do a software update. Haven't driven the car since then until it gets its update. Apparantly newer diff needs different software.

They never said, mine didn't bring any faults up, just strange whirring noise. All sorted now
