Arrow Turbo spooling - mods to hear it better

I've always been a fan of the 335i exhaust note, but I find the turbos to be too quiet. You can only hear it when you are mashing the pedal - and it's still faint.

If you only can install one mod and wanted to hear the turbos spool up more, what would you install? Intake/downpipes/procede? Vouches for specific brands would be helpful too.

None of the BOV stuff (sounds ricey to me on a 335) - I just want to hear more of that jet engine spooling sound.

Intake if you want to hear the spooling. Logic HVI and BMS you both hear a nice spooling sound.

The 335 already comes with a stock recirculated BOV (diverter valve) which diverts air back to the engine. It's a closed loop system and I see no reason to install a custom BOV just for the sound (which I think sounds ricey on the 335s - but different strokes right?). I've also heard a lot of problems with custom BOV's on this car, with no real performance gains (or even a need, due to the size of our turbos).

you are absolutely correct. go with downpipes or intake for a great spooling sound

I completely agree, and that' what I've been trying to tell people.
But they won't listen because I'm an evo owner haha

Downpipes will allow you to hear the spooling through the exhaust system.
Intakes will allow you to hear the spooling through the intake .

I think people are referring "spooling" as the compressor in the works.

Take out factory air box and put in cone filter.

And you will hear a loud 'Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh'..

Having an aftermarket BOV is a matter of preference and sound. What makes you classify it as being "ricer"? You want to achieve the "spool" sound and did not mention if u were looking for gains along with that cuz the turbos are too "quiet". Are you bashing it cuz its ~$500?? Just dont like ppl bashing cars and parts and callin them rice when its not :] other than that got for the intake and dps.

+1. A BOV should not be run on the car since it's a closed loop system, running a BOV will actually degrade the performance of the car.

The ECU has already accounted for that air having passed through the MAF. When the BOV releases it into the atmosphere, the car will run rich since it is dumping fuel in to accommodate X amount of air. Except, there's less air now since it's dumped into the atmosphere, so the car will run really rich until the fuel is burned up and the MAF readings actually match what's in the system.

Whether it's a ricer mod or not, whatever... But to me it's a mod that degrades performance for sound which is not useful for me.
