B58, engine rattle

I've seen similar threads about the 340 and the 440, but i was wondering if I was the only one in the M240i. It seems like a lifter click or some sort of noise with the injectors, but its only audible under load from about 2000-5000 RPM. Anyone else have this? Is there a solution? Should I talk to my dealer?

Not that I notice. Only "tick" I hear is at idle. Sounds kind of like valve tap, but it sounded like that since new and it runs perfectly fine (no rough idling or anything like that).

It's still very smooth for me, nothing that seems rough, and it has done it since new, but it is quite obviously there. It sounds like an accelerating clicky tap or something. I'm about about 2000 miles.

I've also noticed a "actuator valve" kind of sound in the 240...

when it's off? I hear that same thing. Every time I unlock the car or turn it off, this actuator like noise. Assumed it was the AC vents going back to a closed or default setting, but when I did the oil change and I had the hood open, I heard it from the front of the motor somewhere.

I have ward the actuator thing after turning off the car. With the hood popped it's very noticible . As for the OP I have not noticed a noise you describe.

I've hear that noise also every time I first open the door, and I agree it's coming from somewhere under the hood. I have no idea what it is.

I also can't hear anything while driving. Maybe I should turn down the radio. Nah...

I hear similar "actuator" sounds on my 3 vehicles all the time. I assumed it was the fuel pump doing some sort of prime.

Update, the car now has about 3200 miles, and still has the noise. >2000RPM with 40% throttle makes a rattling sound from the engine. It might have gotten a little bit quieter. I might take it in and show it to an SA, but I've heard of it in both 340is and 440is.

I believe I have the same sound as OP mentions. What is the consensus in the 340i/440i threads? Normal or should it be taken in?
