Goodridge brake flexibles

Hi

I have seen very few posts about this, my shop highly recommends these flexibles for F30.

https://www.goodridge.co.uk/collecti...nt=34615088839

Do we like them?
Parts are not very expensive but labour counted as 2+ hours

I am due for a brake fluid replacement this month, thought it would be a good time to install these, but would be happy to hear from others if they're worthwhile

Thanks!

I've installed Goodridge Flexible braided brakelines on 3 BWM's and my 99 Mustang Cobra over the years and have been very satisfied. They are DOT approved in the US. Improved firmness in pedal feel.

If changing /fliusing brake fluid, now is the optimum time to install them

I installed Goodridge on my old E46.
They are very good quality.

However, I don't know if it is needed or even makes braking worse on our cars. BWM already has steel braided pipes. (If you cut one apart, you would see the steel braid embedded in the rubber hose.)

Many times people change from stock brake lines to "steel braided" on a car already a few years old. Then the recognize a better, stiffer pedal feel.
But this could also be because they compare old with new brake lines. So if they would do a replacement with new OEM, the result would be the same.
Brake lines should anyway be replaced after a few years (or a few 10'000 Miles), because the loose stiffness. But only few people do replace them.

Thank you both, very interesting.
I was wondering why BMW wouldn't used steel braided pipes because they're not super expensive, so your remark makes perfect sense - they actually do

So since i'm only at 20000km, no need to rush for a change now, but keep in mind for later then.

@orion4 do you share this view as well?

Thanks

Certainly. if you have not experienced any softening of you pedal compared to when the car was new AND you have already flushed/replaced your fluid, no real need to change the flexible lines.

I can't speak to all BMWs and I'm not an expert, but my previous BMWs (not the original owner) came with OEM rubber flexible lines.

You can always check with your BMW service/parts department to confirm what you have.

Keep in mind that stainless steel lines are vulnerable to dirt being trapped between steel and rubber. You can't easily inspect the state of your rubber hose until a leak occurs. Here's a lively discussion: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...ines-last.html

that is always a possibility, although I have no idea of what % that occurs. i've never experienced an issue. if you still want Braided lines, there are several DOT approved lines that have an exterior PVC cover that protects the stainless from exposure.

Would anyone know if the goodridge brake hose for F30 will fit F34 as well? (or also for the benefit of others, F31/32/33/36?)

Look at realoem to figure out what the factory hoses interchange with as far as other models.

Check TireRack under Brakes. They are a forum sponsor

Oops! Just realized you're in France. Probably have better source locally.

Thanks! Did a few random checks and they are the same part number across f3x.
