2nd failed Emissions test Illinois

Hi

Have JB4 and recently installed VRSF catted DP.
Never got any CELs related to DPs, recently changed battery (didn't code it still). All well in general.

With JB4 in map 0, failed once for not ready tests (not failures)

Drove in map 0 for 300 miles thinking simply didn't drive enough to get all systems ready - initialized... no CELs.

Failed for 2nd time today.

what gives??

Need the BMS fix maybe.

I have MHD on my N55 with catless, and the only one that will not get ready (until forever ) is evap.

Both o2 sensors are ready within a drive to work.

If that was the case, would I not get a CEL?

You need a.r.e.a74 i.o.2 sim. Install it, then leave JB4 in map 0 and complete the BMW drive cycle. I had to do the drive cycle a few times until my evap was ready. Passed in CA with all monitors set to ready (mods in sig).

I would think the catted pipe wouldn't require the O2 sim if it's driven lightly for the drive cycle.

same thing here. Again, would it not throw codes, rather then put test monitors in not ready?

Did you do the 300 miles all in one drive, or was it over the course of 3 or 4 complete warm up and cool down cycles? I've found with other vehicles, the mileage isn't as critical as the number of cool down and heat up cycles.

I would just get the vrsf dp fix for $100 and it should fix your problem.

To have that many not ready monitors after 300 miles is strange. Are you sure you're in map 0? I did that a long time ago where I accidentally switched out of map 0 when trying to get car ready for emissions and autoclear was still on. I could see evap not being ready as that one actually requires being stationary, but the O2/cat ones should either set or throw a code as you said.

I have an N54 but after installing DPFix and switching to map 0, it takes 2-3 days of driving to set all the monitors and I only have a 20 mile roundtrip commute. 300 miles should be more than enough especially over 2 weeks and all those start/stop cycles.

I can verify that having a hi-flow chatted DP will still cause cels that take much longer to show up, once the JB4 is switched to map0.

I had the same symptoms as the OP.

what did you do to resolve it? DP fix?
Simply confuses me.. the NOT READY status is all.

Code:

yes.
verified many times. also shows in JB4 app if I connect.

I researched a bit and N54 forum has said on few occasions - temp. disconnect JB4 - to OEM plugs.
Thoughts?

I would definitely uninstall the JB 4 to remove that from the equation...

Does A 74 dp fix (BMS) work with a catted pipe?

No there is an N54 and different one for the N55. VRSF offers both.

This will work. I have the same year/car and passed emissions in Waukegan Illinois earlier this year using this sim on my first try.
